I love that most of the saturday games are at 4.

Yeah me too. Saturday mornings and early afternoons are for beer and golf or fishing or getting stuff done around the house. Late afternoon and evening is for bbq beer and baseball on TV.

I prefer to record and watch the Saturday games in the evening anyway. Especially in May when it starts getting real hot there is nothing better than grilling steaks or boiling shrimp and a cold beer, sitting outside watching the game.

Read that Shapiro interview and thought it was useless. Questions were stupid and of course Shapiro gives you nothing. Almost no point having it

Would love someone to translate this quote into English:

"What I can tell you is there’s an understanding from Rogers ownership, top to bottom, that there’s an appreciation of the need as well as an understanding that’s probably one of the biggest levers if not the biggest lever on the Blue Jays business model."

My goodness, he said nothing, sounds like a politician beating around the bush.

I really hope they find the right bullpen mix. The team has done a great job cycling vets through the past few years. Got amazing value from Joe Smith, Grilli, Benoit before he got hurt, Mark Lowe, Hawkins. Relievers are dime a dozen but man do I miss the days of a Sanchez quality set up man before Osuna like in 2015, that was crazy.

And Osuna can't blow 10 saves again if we are in a race.

I’ve gotta say reading that Biagini is likely going to aaa to be a starter is annoying me. Seems like a short sighted move with hopes for next season. It messed him up last year so we’re gonna try it again. Just let him be a good reliever. He was a great late inning guy. I know we need depth but this one annoys me.

I know that Pitcherlist.com is pretty high on Joe Biagini as a starter, ranking him 72nd overall among SPs in baseball and one writer boldly predicted Biagini a potential top 40 SP in the majors. Here is the top 40 quote:

Here is a quick comparison of some peripheral numbers, matching Biagini with teammate Marcus Stroman in a chart I call ‘Joe vs Stro’:
NameVH%PH+K%xBaconLOB%bbFIPK/9
Joe5.2%40.5%.32361.5%3.937.30
Stro5.8%40.6%.33578.1%3.737.34
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Not a massive difference aside from a 16.6% drop in strand rate. This is convenient because Stroman is currently the 41st ranked SP on The List. If Biagini takes a step forward, is not moved between pen and rotation all year, and figures out his recent homerun issue, I think Top 40 is well within reach, resulting in a jump of over 30 spots on The List.

And here is Biagini's player page on the site which includes stats, breakdowns, and gif's of his repertoire:

I would rather Biagini get a full season as a starter to see what we got. Let him go to AAA, work on his stuff and first rotation injury he comes up. He definitely can be an Estrada or Happ replacement next season at a fraction of the cost if things progress as we hope. No harm in giving it a try.

I don't have a problem with giving Biagini one last chance to start; he's shown enough in the role in his few opportunities to suggest he can be a success, and enough of the minor league contract guys have shown enough that they can give him a month or two in Buffalo to see what he can do.

More importantly, though... this is literally the exact opposite of a "short-sighted" move.

it's not about "one last chance to start".

putting him in the pen in no way stops him from starting when needed.

thinking that a 28yr old with many hundreds of pro innings needs a "couple months" to "work on his stuff" is kind of silly imo.

It would be helpful to include the question to provide context for the quote.

"Another challenge looming is renovating Rogers Centre to fully leverage the building. Where does that sit, and from a broader perspective, with Rogers Communications Inc. [which owns Sportsnet], planning an upgrade of its wireless network, is there the money for simultaneous large-scale projects?"

When the question he is being asked is provided, it is pretty simple to understand what he is saying: Ownership knows that renovating the dome might be the most important thing for the Blue Jays to grow their revenue.
