I think the KOHO authentic did have nameplates back then, the one I've got which came from NHL.com certainly does (Holik, don't ask!), and this pic seems to back it up

I also have a blue replica sourced from NHL.com around the same time which has CCM instead of KOHO, and no nameplate.

At a guess I'd say the Jagr one could be something that was purchased after he was traded here, so they just whacked the nameplates on to get them in to stores quickly

That picture is a time warp! I’d forgotten Tyutin had played with Richter. Wow.

What was the first year the Rangers started using nameplates on their jerseys?
Full time? The first year of the Edge jerseys.

In prior seasons nameplates were used here and there for callups/pre season games since they recycled jerseys regularly

Yeah. First year of the Edge jerseys, nameplates were mandatory.

Prior to that, nameplates were mostly used for mid-season call-ups and trade acquisitions to faster customize the jerseys. I have a Jeff Toms home jersey from the 2001-2002 season with a nameplate for instance.

Added this beauty to the collection

Here's an interesting question for the collectors and enthusiasts, did Arena Wear start doing the jerseys again? I noticed a very familiar letter size/arch/space and it looks SO much better than early this year when EPS was doing the jerseys. I saw this on TV against the Senators. Anyone else?

Also, still ISO issued or worn reverse retro jersey and a size 48 pro player home or away.

They very well could have, I don't have any confirmation but some of the trusted/connected folks in the Ranger game worn community have said the plan was to go back to Arena Wear for next season. The team had a good relationship with them and the turnaround time for them was much faster than EPS given the location of each shop.

The attention to detail here is truly impressive. Props to you, my friend. I hope this is the case if only to feel that the jersey's I'm having done by them are being touched by the same hands as those I see on the ice.

Well thank for some info, I really enjoy working with AW as well. I am okay spending more for local and faster/better work. EPS is nice for teams that they do and for obscure jerseys but ours are hard to get just right and I think Arena Wear does just that. It fills the jersey out well and isn't overdone.

Do you know who "else" EPS is doing currently? I'm not sure what they are charging per custom, but the idea of waiting months for the turnaround was really what turned me off. My first experience with AW went really well other than they seem to have issues with getting emails now and then, but overall, their customer service was great, it came out absolutely amazing and the turnaround was like a week had it not been for the contact issues (I should have honestly called sooner so that's on me).

I am not sure of their entire stable of NHL teams currently outside of Washington to be honest. I try to send only teams they've worked with to them unless I am out of luck using any other avenue. They work with many teams on many levels though and some collectors send a LOT of jerseys at once. That combined with the shortage of many materials and just logistical hell on earth, their lead times are like 8 months. Their customization price varies by layer/twill type/specialty but it's in line with the going rates for other places.

AW is great. I usually call in if I don't see an email since they've never taken more than 7 working days to help me out. I am very happy with all that they do.

At one point EPS was doing a good number of NHL teams, the NHL all star jerseys, most of the ECHL, and a decent chunk of the AHL. That alone led to long turnarounds but then they would do a twice a year sale where everything that you could fit in a box would get customized and discounted. I know people that would send 20 + jerseys in at once during the sale to take advantage of the discounts.

I never once had a bad experience while using EPS. I personally have about 10-15 jerseys over the years that they did up for me and everything was always well done.

I think EPS is charging $85 a jersey for NYR and maybe extra for patches on top but the months thing is accurate. I have jerseys there from both December and February that I haven't gotten back yet and I saw people on their FB page asking when orders from August are getting done a month ago. They quoted me at 3 months turnaround time but with them, it's really ship the jersey to them, forget about it, and whenever it gets done it gets done. I hope the Rangers go back to Arena Wear though if they haven't already because I think their work is way better (not a knock on EPS but I could see the quality difference on the game worns I have from this year compared to years past), they're a local business with good guys, and their turnaround time on jerseys is super quick even if they are pricey.

I wonder if they are considering expanding their business and perhaps charging more. $85 is a great price compared to AW, but even upping that to $100 would still be significantly cheaper. Those turnaround times are insane though and off-putting. August is looking at an 8 month return at this point. By the time you get it back your player might be gone.
