Lighten up sport. You and I both know Canada would still win without those five players. As you know, two of them were out and Canada still dominated both of the last two games. Quit whining.

Yeah just what i mean. But in Finlands Roster it's maybe bigger thing if our 4 best C:s and top-2 D is out.
I'm not either taking out nothing from Canadas victory but it's so funny to read that Finlands and Swedens injuries are equal with your Stamkos loss.

Way to go Teemu! Great selection he truly did mean more to Finland than any one Canadian player did to Canada.

Stamkos AND Tavares. ;)

Watching Selanne yesterday was something else. Not only because of his on ice performance, but the way he talked to the guys on the bench, the way he was constantly lifting his team's spirit... He wanted that medal and he got it.

It was quite a performance. I'm glad he got the MVP. I don't think it makes it cheap.

I would have liked to see Weber on the all star team. I'd take him over Karlsson every day of the week and I'm a Senators fan.

I was hoping for Doughty for MVP but Selanne is a pretty deserving choice. Greatest hockey Olympian ever?

What comes to stats, his record is going to be hard to beat. In six tournaments 43 points when 43 years old. :handclap:

Yeah right let's rename it lifetime achievement award ( on 3rd place team no less )

Whatajoke!

( Turnover machine Today ) Karlsson wasn't as good as DD

Teemu wasn't as good as DD

Lundqvist wasn't as good as Price

All Star/ MVP selectors were ALL Out to Lunch:amazed::shakehead
Lol bud looks like your out to lunch.

I like Selanne but him winning MVP was horse ****.

well you're wrong to say the least, nowhere in the rules does it say the MVP has to be from the winning team selanne led a young team missing alot of key players and it's not like finland is stacked like canada.

in the end, canadians get over it you won gold be happy with that

Ignorance is bliss, maybe watch the other games before commenting next time. Karlsson wasnt on for a goal against all tournament and tied for the lead in scoring.

Selanee was unbelievable scoring timely and clutch goals while leading a depleted finnish team to a bronze medal and captaining the only team that got canada to overtime all tournament.

Price won best goaltender what do you want?

I am canadian and I find a lot of the gloating and opinions embarassing. Have some class and enjoy the win.

Canada as a team had many players contribute monumental performances but they did it as a team.

Wow forgot about Selanne as a possibility for MVP. They got it right, he deserved it the most

Selänne getting the MVP vote is a feel-good choice. Man had his final appearance on the Finnish team, final Olympics and also the all-time top scorer of the Olympics. People put way too much stock in these things.

LOL at everyone getting all butt hurt over some meaningless award. Let Teemu have one last hurrah, sit down and shut up.

Lundqvist and Quick were the best goalies. Price was very good but didn't have to face many 2nd chances because of Canadas D.

And because he has great rebound control as was reading the play well enough to swallow the puck most of the time shots got through traffic.

You dont need to win gold to be MVP for your team. lol.

When doesn't a player on the championship get the MVP?? It is extremely rare. It should only go to another teams MVP if the winning team had no one deserving. And I call soem serious ******** on anyone who says Price isn't deserving

Ya Price played great but Luongo would of got the job done as well

Selanne did have the best stats in the medal round.

3gp 3g 1a 2GWGs

It's not like they gave the MVP to some over the hill player.

MVP is a tough one to call. I think I agree with Selanne winning it.

Price could've won it if the voting hadn't been done before the final, because getting a shutout in a gold medal game when the stakes are at their highest is huge, great team in front of you or not. Plus he shut out team USA in the semifinal which was one of the highest scoring teams in the tournament. Downplaying the importance of that game is to ignore the fact that USA only began to falter the last two games, but before that they blazed a trail. Two shutouts in the semifinal and gold medal games? You're crazy if you don't think Price deserved it, but I can see why he didn't win given that he played with an amazing team too.

Doughty was also deserving. He almost won the game against Finland by himself, and Canada wouldn't be in a completely different boat if he hadn't stepped up there. My only argument is that he didn't quite show in the final two games, where it mattered most. This is what a team effort is all about, different people stepping up in different situations and at different times, which is why I'm not surprised Canada won gold, but I don't think Doughty deserved to win either. Although since only the semifinal performance would've been considered, who knows if he was in the conversation or not?

Karlsson, like team USA, blazed a trail up until the gold medal match, where he all but disappeared and was ineffective. I'd even argue that he didn't have a great game against Finland despite scoring the GWG, but you can't discount coming up big when it matters. As I mentioned, gold medal game aside, he could very well have been in contention for MVP.

All in all, given the candidates and their situations, I think they choose correctly in picking Selanne.
