lol are ppl really *****ing about selanne getting mvp? who cares, price got the prize that matters.
 
Who cares? The tournament is way too short to find a deserving winner anyways and no player stood out. Why not give it Selanne as an career achievement?
 
congrats Teemu,Karlsson,Kessel,Lundqvist all well deserved. Its a shame so may cry foul when we won gold over who was nominated to all star awards.

I dont really mind how the awards went, when you look at the teams its hard to pick players that stand out on canada.... it was a solid team the defense as a whole didnt give up much chances, and the forwards may not have produced as much as everyone thought but they did control games... Yes weber and daughty had awesome tournyments but look at the roster 1 of them gets injured and you literally have the NHL Norris winner ready to take up their mins, canada loses tavares and they dont really lose a beat as far as skill goes in the player replacing him. The amount of depth is rediculous and if you look at teams like sweeden/finland who lose a guy like zetterberg they have no one in their country that can bring what he brings. So yes it would be hard to pick an mvp from canada because its a team full of mvps.
 
I don't mind Selanne as MVP his was a great story line and he put his team on his back and went as far as he could.

Kessel on the other hand scored a bunch of early tourny goals and then absolutely **** the bed in the only two games that really mattered. If it wasn't for Oshie in the SO the States wouldn't have even done anything.

Timely? Why not score in the semis vs Swedes? That'd be timely & Yeah I saw that game too. Finns tried setting up Selanne on pp numerous times and he botched every one! Also saw Suomi vs Russians...+ Suomi vs Yanks...

2 of Selanne's goals came vs a US team playing it's second game in less than 24 hours, who didn't even show up for loser medal game.

Selanne was also a BIG &^%! Whiner after his team lost to Canada , calling Crosby a diver. Insinuating he got special treatment from refs. blah blah blah. Only one who got special treatment from tourney officials was Teemu

It was a sentimental selection for an over the hill guy, who deserved and won nothing of note in my books.

Karlsson wasnt on for a goal against all tournament and tied for the lead in scoring.

Karlsson was a turnover machine today, BUT otherwise he accomplished NADA. Team Canada gave up 3 goals all tourney. Karlsson woulda rode the pine alongside PK ( No behind PK in the depth chart ) if he wore a Red Maple Leaf Sweater . Both DD and Price were MUCH more deserving of MVP. Hell we wouldn't have beaten Suomi in round robin sans DD. DD is twice the player Karlsson is/ will be. & He has a SLC ring and 2 OG gold medals to prove it!

Feel like they got everything more or less right except Granlund on the allstar team over Carter or Toews. Weber could have been there over EK but it was very close

Lundqvist and Price both got individual recognition, don't really see much of an issue there.

You are much bigger whiner than Selanne will ever be. Give the guy a break.. he is over 40 yo and to be able to play on this lvl still is something you will never understand. Also Selanne was 6th i believe in points.. scored 2 in bronze game..

Haha such an awful post and blind hate for anything non Canadian. Dude, I'm Canadian and love that Canada won, but let's not criticize everyone else and make false claims to help promote the ultimate force of team Canada and it's Canadian players
 
good choice, Finland had a great tournament, I still can't believe they got a medal over USA and Russia

I think most people who watched all of Team Finland's games would agree that Granlund was our best forward. He is definitely more deserving of an all-star nod than Teemu (who had an awesome tournament as well).
 
Thus proving why awards given out by the medias are kind of a joke.

If you're gonna quote me please dont break up the post to your discretion. Your argument loses all validity. By not including my entire post and completely ignoring my team concept argument for team Canada I dont see the point in addressing team accomplishments when arguing about a player.

With comments like 'dd is twice the player karlsson is/will be' decimates your credibility. There is no bother arguing with you because you clearly cant look at him objectively.

Your rant about Selanee is even more mis informed. That was a dive by Crosby, a smart play that drew a penalty and a goal. I dont condone diving but if you took off your red and white glasses you could see the difference. The guy is a bull on skates, he exaggerated and drew a penalty. Selanee may not have scored against Sweden but it wasnt from lack of trying, he was affective with a decimated Finnish team that lost almost all of its primary scorers and he stepped up. He doesnt have a supporting cast like canada.

I am as happy/excited as the next Canadian about the win but I am not going to stop evaluating the game with logic because I am fired up about the W.

Doughty's awesome, but I don't understand why so many people are choosing him over Weber as best Canadian D-man. I think they were very close, but I'd give the edge to Weber. Same number of points, but Weber played more minutes and faced the toughest assignments. Doesn't really matter since they're both amazing, but I'd go with Weber.

sad we can't just be happy for those who were named and the medalists. maybe we should just let the IOC know HBoards is not pleased with the choices.

Price would be the first to tell you - he has the prize he came for. Anything else is gravy. He's the same way in the NHL. All he wants is a cup one day. Shutouts, first stars, awards - nope. Big prize.
 
Congrat to my boy Karlsson for being named tourney best defenseman and his silver medal. He proved once against that he's one of the world best player.

Canada played so well defensevely that it didn't matter which goaltender played for Canada, even with Devan Dubnyk we would have won the gold.

Now lets see how Price does with a middle of the pack team in front of him. ;)
