If we are sending Rielly down, I sure hope this pushes MJ to actually go and trade him to a team that doesn't suck. Couldn't be much worse returning to a team that bad for the rest of the season.

The good news is he could play for the Marlies in the playoffs once his team is done.

Doubt Gardiner will be going tomorrow. Carlyle basically said he needed to be practicing with the team by Wednesday. So they will keep the extra D for a few games.

Disappointing to see Frattin get sent down but I guess it gives him more time to gain momentum from his knee injury last year. Hopefully he'll be up permanently by mid-season.

Hopefully that is it. He was lights out in the playoffs last year before he got hurt.

yup

Bob Mitchell ‏@ThePitBull123

So Franson is with Kostka. Fraser is with Liles and Phaneuf is with Gunnarsson. Komisarek is with Gardiner and Holzer is also there.

9 D?

Who is Bob Mitchell? seen his name the last few days but never heard of him before.

Way too many D still left. My guess is Fraser and Kostka are cut later on today, meaning we'd have:

- Phaneuf
- Gardiner
- Liles
- Franson
- Komisarek
- Holzer
- Gunnarsson

They need to be careful with this guy.

Huge fan of Carlyle keeping Fraser. I always leave Marlies games more than satisfied with his play. Hes solid in the corners, solid defensively and can scrap with the best of them. He really will be important to this roster. Holzer isnt as quick on his feet and doesnt have the as much physicality.

and not rushing Rielly? Montreal seems to think that an 18 year old can play in the NHL without being ruined.

I hope Komisarek gets cut and Fraser stays. Other than that I love the lineup you proposed.

Interesting D-pairings today: Phaneuf-Kostka. Liles-Komisarek. Gunnarsson-Franson. Fraser and Holzer would appear extras.

Kostka* - Phaneuf
Gunnar - Franson
Liles - Komisarek

* - placeholding for Gardiner

Still don't see the use of Orr.

Apparantly he's leaned out, lost 20+lbs and can move his feet again.

Don't know if people remember but before he became a leaf, he was a really good 4th liner in NY. If he's skating and forchecking again he can be damn effective... not to mention intimidating.

He made this team because he's not just a fighter anymore.

Yeah something is up here. I was hoping for an amnesty on one particular dude. :D

However looking at the pairings Carlyle seems to like a stay at home guy with a puck mover. Need a one or two more shut down guys. Fraser would seem to fit the bill. However ....

Sports writer for the star.

Updated pairings. Seems like they're mixing it up a bit trying to give some guys a last look. (ie Kostka)
