Orr over Frattin? Seriously?

I'm not a qualified coach by any means, but that doesn't seem like the right move for a club supposedly going with a youth movement and using this shortened season to develop players.

Komarov and Kadri beat him out of a top 9 spot and he doesn't need waivers.

Plus there's no point having him on the 4th line.

The team doesn't have much toughness and Frattin was waiver exempt. I can see why they did this, they probably didn't feel that Frattin would do well on the 4th line. We'll see Frattin sooner or later anyway. He'll be our first winger callup.

Two players that have 2 very different roles. According to Nonis, frattin "hit the wall" during camp. I'm sure if he played well enough, he could have bumped Orr out. He was beat out, plain and simple.

You are confusing youth movement with giving spots to younger players.

Fact is, Frattin did not impress. He actually has been in a "lul" for a couple weeks now, even with the Marlies. They are not going to give out roster spots to players that have not earned it.

So they are sending him down for him to figure it out and get back to where he can be.

With that said, I think he'll be back by the end of the month.

They weren't competing for the same role. Frattin can play every day with the Marlies rather than spending time in the press box and on the 4th line for the Leafs.

I know they weren't competing for the same role, but it seems odd to give the roster spot to Orr over Frattin. Frattin should be a top 9 forward on this team without question.

Question here,do Frasher, holzer and kosta half to pass thru waivers if or when sent to the ahl, i personaly would'nt want to lose any of them

Why?

Kessel, Lupul, Kulemin, MacArthur, JVR, Kadri and Komarov all beat him out

Those are your top 9 wingers +Kadri. Frattin also isn't a young buck... inexperienced yes but he's less than a year younger than Kessel and Komarov, and is older than Kadri and JVR.

Komisarek isn't going anywhere until the end of this season... He's not been as bad as people make him out to be. He's big tough, a shot blocking machine and a character guy.

I truly believe his confidence has been shot the same way Schenn's was shot due to the piss poor PK that forced both of these guys to not take penalties in result it's stooped both of them from playing on the mean side where they're effective.

It amazes me how much of the teams issues defensively have very little to do with the 6 D men... more so the lack of battles won by the wingers in support of the D and the piss poor goaltending especially on the PK where the Leaf goalies primarily Reimer and his .742 save% on it allow 1 goal in every 4 shots on net.

Komisarek's contract may be inflated but he's not a bad D men, those are 2 different things that I wish people were able to identify before crucifying players as worthless.

On the other hand Frattin is a casualty of a Burke mistake at last years trade deadline by not clearing roster spots, the trade for JVR and Komorov coming over... MacArthur holds his spot on the roster and I could honestly say I'm disappointed that this guy is still here.

Orr will be an extra or on the 4th line. Would you want to keep Frattin up if he played 5 minutes a night, if any at all? Besides, seems like this shortened season might be a slug-fest, a lot of teams are trying to "bulk up"

I didn't realize Frattin had regressed that much at camp. I thought Komarov was going to break in on the 4th line and Frattin was going to play on Kadri's line.

I hope the kid bounces back soon.

I love the combination of JVR-Kadri on paper. If they could find some chemistry, then they could really kill it for this team and evolve into something special together. A big goal scoring winger and a skilled play-making C is a match made in heaven.

Mike Kostka makes the Leafs.

I could see a rotation between Mike Komisarek and Korbinian Holzer as the extra D every other game or something.

I think that we will see Kadri on the wing tomorrow. Steckel is more important than Orr against a team like MTL

Poor Marlies - they've lost a lot of bodies but hey, if they help the big club then by all means. Leafs need to start benefitting from their farm team. I really like our top 9. From what I've heard, Frattin didn't have a great camp. He's got NHL talent and there's no point in wasting it on the 4th line - sending him back down to the Marlies where he'll be playing more important minutes is better for his development.

I'm surprised by the Liles/Franson and Holzer/Komi pairing only because the first group are offensive dmen and the second group are defensive dmen. I assumed that each blueline pairing would have one of each.
