I'm really excited for opening day, I think we are a solid/all star goaltender and a number 1 center away from really being great. We have the wingers, we have the depth on offense and ability to score by committee, I believe in Phaneuf as a number one being supported by Reilly, Gardiner, Gunnarsson and some sandpaper in the bottom pairing, and with guys like McClement being potential shut down guys, this team is headed in the right direction, not a huge fan of tanking as you must try to be competitive, but imagine what a great draft and free agency this year can do for the team's chances next year?

Pretty much this. Either a true #1 C or 1B and a legit goalie from having both a solid and deep team plus lots of prospects developing to fill the void. MacA needs to be moved (possibly for a G) as I'd have Bozak as 3C once 1C is filled.

REIMER
SCRIVENS

ORR
STECKEL
GARDINER (D TO D)

i guess we lost these players to other teams, fraser, kostka, they have to clear waivers

tsn radio reporter (name escapes me) was mentioning this:

-kulemin looks great. like the 30g scorer of 2 yrs ago- was playing on a line with malkin in eur.
-frattin looks flat - could get sent down
-komarov is making buddies with grabo and kulemin - they hang out together - so the line combo was intriguing yest.
- scrivens looks way better than reimer (who looks rusty) which is to be expected
- connolly had a talk with RC earlier about wanting to be on the scoring lines, not a checker - adios
- reilly might benefit from playing 6 nhl games as a good learning exp.

Scrivens looked crappy in the marlies training camp. Yet he turned it around. Hopefully Reimer can do the same

Is it today they need to have the roaster down to 23? What time?

what about other guys?

I keep hearing about Kadri, Komarev and Van Rym Dysk.

How has Holzer looked? making the team yes no?

Matt Frattin?

Kostka?

This should be a big day for Kadri. Couldn't be happier for the guy. This potential line sounds like it will be great.

Holzer and Kostka is a mystery. Frattin is most likely sent down based on Carlyle's interview.

If we do still have waiver exemption eligibility left for Frattin, that's a huge bonus for the Leafs. We can send him down without losing him and instantly get a leg up depth-wise.

I really hope we don't lose Kostka though, I don't know why but I have a feeling about him. Seems like a guy whom really put in the effort and is on the verge of making the next step as a late bloomer.

I have heard this and Mirtle also has apparently;

Looks like Randy C's has his team in mind with Frattin and Reilly being the obvious choices to be cut. Morgan doesn't need these 5 games to succeed in the NHL level, as he's been through a WJC and an intense NHL training camp already this season, so those in itself have huge impacts in terms of learning what needs to be done for future success. As for Frattin, he'll certainly be a first call up option if there is any long term injuries, but he wasn't impressive in camp.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Macarthur - Grabovski - Kulemin
JVR - Kadri - Komorov
Brown - McClement - Orr
Extra: Steckle

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Liles - Franson
Holzer - Komisarek
Extras: Gardiner, (Fraser/Kostka)

Reimer
Scrivens

23-Man Roster with 8 Defenders.

Hearing Rielly and Frattin will be the Leafs cuts today to get to 23-man roster. Practice starts at 11:30 so we'll know for sure then.

STECKEL MCCLEMENT M.BROWN

makes a good 4th line checking line that could play more with the lead

ORR MCCLEMENT M.BROWN

that doesnt work
so....

VANREIMSDYK KADRI KOMAROV

could become.......

VANREIMSDYK MCCLEMENT KOMAROV

when protecting the lead in the 3rd

I hope Randy does those kind of things

2 of Fraser, Kostka and Holzer will stick until Gardiner comes back.

With the mobility and puck movement that Gardiner brings ontop of what we already have, I can see Kostka being on the outs there.

Carlyle is a fan of Fraser and can step in and do what Komisarek is expected to do if Mike isn't performing.
