I have no problem with Aho's ask. He just put up the best Canes single season performance in a decade and is still only 22 years old, and just happens to be a RFA in an era where RFAs are finally starting to get paid. I do blame Dumbass for inflating salaries on less than max term deals which buy out less UFA years though. f*** that guy.

The overpay on Matthews is because it's a five-year deal. It's not a comparable for anybody. Eichel, McDavid and Malkin (long ago) all signed for eight years. Matthews's contract is an outlier, Dubas was stupid for giving it to him, and it's not going to affect anyone going forward, least of all Aho.

I agree, except that there's no evidence that salaries are inflated, yet. *NOBODY* has signed for a similar deal to Matthews yet, and I don't think anybody will (aside from Marner, who luckily gets to deal with the same moron that Matthews got to deal with).

Im putting my money on Mrazek being signed with Darling being bought out. Waiting until Saturday to announce, if they can keep it quiet.

Since insiders dont swarm us, I bet they do keep it quiet.

Mike Smith - Forsberg - Nedeljkovic

No thank you

This reeks of public posturing by all parties involved. The Oilers have significant needs up front; they can't invest upwards of $9 mil in goal. The Canes can't go from Mrazek and McElhinney to Smith, Forsberg and Nedeljkovic. Mrazek and Smith are trying to get as much as they can for as long they can.

This is fun. This is what following a hockey team should be like. Say what you want about Dundon, but things are a whole lot more interesting around here since he arrived. The days of us sitting on the sidelines watching other clubs maneuver are clearly over. We're in the middle of everything and all options are truly on the table.

Are we having fun yet? Are we not entertained?

I like the Haula trade. However, following Tampa hasn't been bad the past decade and they do most of their additions through development.
Yeah but they did draft Hedman and Stamkos. Aho while crazy good wasn't top draft pick. They also found Kucherov...
