Could be - but Holm was bad in only 1 year, his first in NA. I wouldn't give up on him without giving him 1 more year to progress.

I wouldn't be so sure Milic is ready to step right in to AHL level competition. If he is excelling in the ECHL and Holm is not excelling with the Moose, they can be swapped at any time. Players don't need to be waived from the AHL to the ECHL AFAIK.

Really, we have 2 pro goalies right now, Holm and Salminen. That's it. There is plenty of room. Well, now we have 1. That is assuming Helle is moved. If he stays we have 2. Still plenty of room.
Yep. Not qualifying Holm is a head scratcher. Especially if Hellebyuck is leaving, as he himself has clearly stated. As a Finn I don't have anything against giving Salminen a chance, but with all the information available he really is our only pro goalie right now. Chevy must have something cooking behind the scenes, right? Right? :help:

The risk in QOing Holm was almost nil. He may be the best goalie in the CHL but he is still a kid coming out of Jr. Big jump to ECHL, huge jump to AHL.

I don't mind giving him a chance to win the Moose job, but this is handing it to him. Let him win it and send Holm to the ECHL if Milic proves to be that good. The loss is peanuts.

Seems almost ridiculous for an organization that has Helle + Salminen and Helle on his way out. In a few days Salminen could be our only goalie who has played a single pro game.

I think the org is likely going to target a goalie back in the Helle trade so I wouldn't worry to much about it. I think Milic is likely already better than Holm anyways so I'm not sweating it.

Goalies will be the order of the day. We should walk away from the dance with the ugly one.

I like Logan Thompson a lot. His two years in the A and two with Vegas look very good.

If Lehner decides he's healthy in September, Vegas will be in a lot of trouble.

I wonder if it'd be worth taking on Lehner to get Thompson. Maybe a 7th going the other way. Just another potential option. Might be able to dump Lehner at the deadline for an asset too.

I would not want Lehner anywhere near this club.

seems to have some baggage (bankruptcy, reptiles). think he suffers from depression too? Northern climes probably not ideal for him then. otherwise, I don't know the man.

I am hoping we get a couple of goalies and a third line forward today.
2 goalies in, 1 out, ideally

We should try to corner the market on Geekies today

Agreed, I like Geekie and think he'd bring a lot to our third line. He has a good shot so might be able to finish some of thevin tight chances that line generates.

Genereally speaking NOTHING good happens on July 1st in the NHL, only overpayments your team will eventually regret. Normally doing nothing today is a huge win. That being said If Chevy can get us another Kyle Wellwood or Matthew Perreault value deal then I am all for it.

it's all good today. it doesn't become bad until remorse sets in over the next few weeks

worth taking a punt on Jarret Anderson-Dolan or is he toast as a prospect?

I'm kind of hoping Chevy stays away from UFA signings today. Jets have plenty of depth and trade chips to fill roster gaps, with 55 and 37 to sort out. Lots of mistakes will be made by GMs today.

okay. last oh six hundred trade proposal(s) of the season (a Canada Day two-for):

Mark Scheifele and Ville Heinola

for

Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Jack Drury, and Aleksi Heimosalmi

AND

Connor Hellebuyck (25% retained)

for

Casey Mittelstadt, Noah Ostlund, and UPL

just a reminder....Heimosalami rhymes with Teemo Selanne

Quick trade pontification update: Sanheim and Carlo have NTCs that kicked in today.

That is why Philly was aledgedly trying to give Sanheim away yesterday.

So I feel like you are sending up the bat signal for an intervention.

Agreed, but the goalie situation needs to be sorted out ASAP. The list of acceptable goaltenders is already short, and waiting for a better Helle trade only makes the situation worse.

I kind of have a hunch that Chevy and Chipman have already talked themselves into (correctly) believing that we don't make the playoffs next year without Helle, and thus they will (incorrectly) keep him in order to not have the rebuild forced onto us just yet.

IMO it's hard to move Chef because for good or bad, he has a reputation in the league of not being a 200ft player. And it's hard to move Helly because of the money everyone knows he wants. Even if a team wants him, there are not as many teams that have the cap space.
