End of Allstar week can't come soon enough
I think we're better off upgrading at #7 than grabbing Tanev for the d-core. Would rather use the 2nd to get an upgrade at forward
Absolutely... while it worked out timing wise for us due to injuries, it just grinds the momentum of the season to a screeching halt.End of Allstar week can't come soon enough
I didn't even know we owned the rights to Esposito at one point let alone traded him.Danick Paquette for Eric Fehr and Angelo Esposito for Kenndal McArdle were underrated prospect-for-roster-player moves by Chevy.
Thrashers got him from Pittsburgh for Hossa. We traded him the summer before our first season.I didn't even know we owned the rights to Esposito at one point let alone traded him.
Me and you both.I think we're better off upgrading at #7 than grabbing Tanev for the d-core. Would rather use the 2nd to get an upgrade at forward
I don't think Monahan is an upgrade on Namestnikov. In fact, Namestnikov is producing points at a higher rate at 5v5 than Monahan, and is way better defensively. Jets can find wingers to produce offense with Namestnikov, and he can support them with strong D.The one thing I hope is that Chevy goes no where near Monahan. I don't think he helps us 5 on 5 and would probably have to be sheltered on the 4th line and is that where we want to go with our roster for the cost of a future piece, even if it is less than a 1st or higher level prospect?
I think Chevy is going to get someone no one is even talking about. The one thing I hope is that Chevy goes no where near Monahan. I also don't think anyone was talking about Namestnikov when Chevy got him. Both good additions if you ask me.Yup, still 4+ weeks till the TDL, plenty of time for teams to drop out out of the race. Chevy said Nino only became available right before the TDL iirc.
That does seem to be Chevy’s way.I think Chevy is going to get someone no one is even talking about.
Someone from Russia? Because I think every nhler has been mentioned in this thread hahaI think Chevy is going to get someone no one is even talking about.
I disagree.I think we're better off upgrading at #7 than grabbing Tanev for the d-core. Would rather use the 2nd to get an upgrade at forward
DON'T TRADE CHIBRIKOV!I'd be happy with Tanev and Vatrano, to be honest. There isn't any reasonable option to replace Scheifele if he's injured, and I'm okay with Scheifele, Lowry, Namestnikov, Kupari, etc. at C, with Perfetti as another potential option. Vatrano would add another scorer, pushing Iafallo or Appleton out of the top-9 mix and add more diverse offense.
Tanev would be an upgrade on any of the Jets' RD, pushing Pionk to 3rd pair minutes, and leaving them with puck-moving D as their reserves. Really reduces the likelihood that a big D like Stanley will be next up if the Jets have an injury to Dillon or Samberg.
Cost?
Tanev = 2nd (Habs)?
Vatrano = Chibrikov or Lucius?
Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi
Perfetti-Namestnikov-Ehlers
Niederreiter-Lowry-Vatrano
Iafallo-Barron-Appleton
Morrissey-Tanev
Dillon-DeMelo
Samberg-Pionk
Schmidt, Heinola, (Stanley), Capo
I still think that was a mind numbingly stupid move by the predatorsYup, still 4+ weeks till the TDL, plenty of time for teams to drop out out of the race. Chevy said Nino only became available right before the TDL iirc.
Don’t think anyone has mentioned Tom Wilson yet.I think Chevy is going to get someone no one is even talking about.
Put me in the NO to Monahan camp. Not at all interested. I’ll actually be disappointed if he’s the guy Chevy brings in.
I think Henrique fits what we need and is a better 5v5 player than Monahan. He should be a serious target.
As much as people want Mittlestadt, I don’t see the Sabres in a panic to move him now. They can move him in the summer. Same can be said for Jenner.
Giroux would be amazing, but is unlikely to waive. Stranger things have happened, but he’d be a long shot at best. Unless Bowness can get his son to sell him on Winnipeg
NYI are 6 points back of a wild card, battling it out with Detroit, Pittsburgh and New Jersey. Nelson has a M-NTC, but I wouldn’t rule out him waiving for Winnipeg. Both he and his wife are from Warroad. There’s plenty of Minnesota flavour on the Jets that he may know. He tops my list and would really bolster the top 6. Very solid player.
Frost is an intriguing player that doesn’t cost much, but you’d be banking that he regains his form from a year ago with a fresh start. If not, he doesn’t move the needle. Could be a worthy gamble that shouldn’t break the bank asset wise and the Jets were rumoured to have interest in him.
Then there’s Wennberg, but Seattle is still in a cluster of teams vying for a wild card. Wennberg wouldn’t be the answer to the #2 centre position, but if they’re content with Namestnikov there, Wennberg is an upgrade over Toninato/Kupari/ Gustafsson and stylistically seems like a strong fit for Bones’ system.
The suspense of what Chevy is planning is killing me.
Karl Klingberg for Lee Stempniak is the only other one that comes to mind.
Coach hates him and has healthy scratched him in a bunch of games, he is still young and is likely playing for his next contract. Staying in Vancouver was doing him no good in terms of getting a good deal on his next contract.
I think Chevy targets someone that adds depth to C group, plays a ‘Jets style’ playoff type game, can provide depth scoring, will fit in the room, and win the majority of their faceoffs, and won’t cost an arm and a leg to acquire.
Seems to scream Boone Jenner, to me.
Offer Stanley, a prospect or young player (someone not named McGroarty, Salomonsson, Lambert, Barlow, Chibrikov, Heinola) and mid-round pick up to a 2nd.
Perhaps Stanley, Lucius and 2025 3rd
