Felix in a massive come-from-behind win over Sinner 2-6, 7-6, 6-1. What a brawl that was.

Watching him play today and last week in Montreal against Kyrgios, I would bet 20 bucks that Medvedev is nursing a rib or abdomen injury.

I'm really enjoying the men's and women's tour right now. There are so many good players on both sides. American players are back in the thick of things after not looking so good the past few years.

Felix goes very, very quietly against Coric 4 and 4.

Fritz plays Medvedev almost even in the first set than fades 6 and 3.

Tsitsipas outlasts Isner 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. Looks like Stefanos is rounding into form.

Norrie outlasts Alcaraz 7-6, 6-7, 6-4. As has happened not infrequently before, Carlos got overly excited after a spectacular break in the third set, lost concentration and blew the match quickly. Shame, because Norrie, spewing about 45 errors, was beatable. (Carlos is also developing a Federer-like tendency to waste vast numbers of break points, 2 for 13 today.)

So there is life after Roger and Rafa after all. Glad you feel that way.

Trying to pick a winner for the Open on the womens side seems hopeless.

Iga has looked awful, interested to see what the courts look like in qualifying this week at the Open, Cincy usually has the quickest courts of the summer, she might catch a break if she plays all her matches in canyon Ashe Stadium.

Assuming no Novak, it feels like Medvedev would be the favorite, but not really a great two weeks for him after winning in Mexico. I’m just not sure if someone will beat him in a best of 5.

Coric grinds down the grinder, defeating Norrie in straight sets. What a rebirth of relevance for Borna.

Tsitsipas finally changes strategy against Medvedev with an emphasis on strong net play and wins in three sets. It helped, though, that Daniil served like a klutz all day.

Borna Coric had the week of the year so far. The forgotten man of the original Next Generation, along with Dimitrov the first on the scene in fact, resurfaces to knock off Musetti, Nadal, Bautista Agut, FAA, Norrie, and Tsitsipas (7-6, 6-2) to win Cincy. Borna was broken in his first attempt, but then not a misstep the rest of the way.

WTA 250 event this week in Granby.

Canadian Katherine Sebov (23) get her main tour win last night over world # 79 Wang.

Also 15 year old Victoria Mboko got a WC. Unfortunately she'll be facing Marino in the first round.

And 3 17 year olds made it through qualifying.

Plenty of hopefuls coming through the Canada Tennis system.

The milestones keep on coming for Brenda Fruhvirtova.

Just six months after clinching her first professional crown and emulating other 14-year-old title winners like Anna Kournikova and Justine Henin, the Czech prodigy went several steps further - becoming the youngest player in history to win five titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

Aged 15 years, four months and 21 days, Fruhvirtova collected her fifth career title in emphatic style on Sunday – beating Germany’s Luisa Meyer auf der Heide 6-0 6-0 in just 57 minutes in the final at W25 Mogyorod.

Only 15 years old. We'll see where she is in a year or two.

Is it just coincidence that the two least charismatic tennis players on tour. Van De Zandschulp and Griekspoor, just happen to be from the Netherlands? Come to think of it, Tom Okker and Betty Stove weren't exactly the life of the party either.

Dream week for the 20 year old Canadian. Moves up 183 spots in the live rankings to 335.

He plays in the NCAA at Kentucky. Big kid...6'7.

Rune is shaping up to be a real idiot:

"Holger Rune was not impressed with the length of time it took for Cameron Norrie to serve in the second set. The Brit stayed within the 25-second clock time, but the Dane felt it was gamesmanship from the world No. 7, 'Are you kidding me?' He shouted towards the umpire. 'Just before the time runs out, he serves, every time.'" --from Eurosport

I watched a bit of Genie Bouchard's match yesterday, she won in straight sets and looked pretty good. She needs a lot of match play and of course the game has progressed since she was in her prime. Rebecca also won her match.

You knew the day was coming soon, but sad nonetheless. End of an era. It will continue to be argued if he was the greatest of all time, but I don't think anyone has ever been as dominant when he was at his peak. A class act whose game and personality will be dearly missed from the sport.

I saw Laver play towards the end of his peak (maybe a little past his peak) and I think Federer was better. And he's the only that I think was better.

I saw Laver at his peak. I love Laver but Roger was better. Not by a ton, but there was clear daylight between them. Sorry that this day finally came; it was an absolute privilege to watch Roger play. He's always going to be my GOAT, too, deep down.

Looking back at his career for me the two most memorable Federer matches probably are the 2017 Australian Open Final against Nadal and the 2009 Wimbledon Final against Roddick.

Wimbledon 2009 was the first and only time I wasn't cheering for Federer because I really wanted Roddick to get that one Wimbledon championship.
