I love watching Zheng's game, love how she combines grace and aggression.

Pliskova toughs it out in a hard-fought three set match. As the match progressed she served better and better and kept the pressure on the younger player from the baseline.

Evans comes from a set down to beat Paul in a match that was filled with exciting, creative tennis. A real treat, this one.

Carreno Busta gave a very game Draper a lesson in perseverance, 7-6, 6-1. Draper's first two service games took nearly 20 minutes combined and he never could hit through Pablo frequently enough to turn the tide. PCB was the human equivalent of Pong this match.

Hurkacz serves and volleys his way past Ruud in the final two sets of a three setter, and Carreno Busta takes out a weirdly animated Evans who yapped at his coach/box like a mad man. That being said, the match was a very intense and entertaining two setter with PCB looking fully ready to win a 1000.

Maia continues her hot streak all the way to the finals over Pliskova, and Halep gets past Pegula in a three set match that was dull as dish water.

Halep defeats Maia 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in a match of massive momentum shifts. Halep used her tactical smarts to try to upset Maia's groundstroke rhythm, but the Brazilian kept coming back. Would not have taken a whole lot for this match to have gone the other way.

I can't stand that bark sound she makes on every shot.

What an absolutely magnificent performance by Carreno Busta, coming from a set down to win a very entertaining, very well-deserved championship match against Hurkacz. Pablo usually falters at the wire, but this was a new, utterly clutch Pablo this tournament. Often a purely defensive player, he did whatever it took all week long to win this tournament including some stellar net play (12 for 16 today).

She's a lot like Sorribes Tormo in that regards.

Oh and WTH is going on in Cincy? The tournament basically markets Williams vs. Raducanu as a Monday matchup (... already a bit suspiscious in the first place), but then pushes it back to Tuesday?

Has anyone disappeared off the face of the earth like Raonic? There has been nothing said about him this year other than he got married in April.

Shapo's best performance in ages as he outguns Dimitrov in straight sets. Lots of boom-boom, five strokes or under power tennis on a very fast court.

Emma over Serena 4 and 0. Serena couldn't get off the court fast enough.

In Cincy, Carreno Busta had 69 winners in 32 games and lost the match in three sets to Kecmanovic.

A frustrated Shapo, one racket already smashed and two breaks down in the second set, seems content to go quickly, but then for the second tournament in a row Paul follows a strong first set with a completely inexplicable meltdown, especially on the forehand side. The result: Denis wins in three sets.

Coric, playing his best, clutchiest tennis in years, beats Rafa in three sets. Borna lost the second set but didn't waver. Rafa looked pretty good for such a long layoff, but obviously was not match fit yet. On fast courts like these at the US Open, Nadal might need a soft draw in the early rounds to get up to speed.

I was and wasn't surprised to hear that Rafa lost. Coric is playing well and is up 5-2 on Bautista Agut today

Great job by Felix after dropping the first set 6-2 and bring broken in the second set, he won that in a breaker decisively and crushed in the third!
