Everyone who has not seen the YouTube of The Sick Podcast featuring scout Grant McCagg of Recrutes.com on tge 2924 Draft prospect Dean Letourneau the 6'7 Center playing St Andrews College which is a prep school ....shold watch it...

Whentgey played Shattucks St Mary's recently NcCagg says all NHL teans and Central Scouting were in the stands watching the games..Letourneau starred..

McCagg has him goibg around #20i round 1...We will have to see where Central Scoutibg andxotger rankibgvirgs now have him after seeing him in tgese games...

Explosive skater with soft hands and slick puck handling likexaxsmaller offensive player has...his coach says good work ethic ;coacable, and willing to learn...Only 2 areas sonexscouts might question...one is tgat he us only in a lower level of competition at the Prep School level...but 2 kids off last year'sSt.Andrewsxteam were drafted to tge NHL and his coach says another kid from lsstcyear's team shoukd be drafted this season...plus remember that Toews played at Shattucks which was a oreo school before he went to the NCAa...So youbcan get 1st rounders even high firsts fron prep schools...but most of tge stars on those teams get only picked later in round onevirvin other rounds...Still this kid given his size with speed and skill and offensive ability is a sort yof unique X factor for this draft.. Somec eam might bite even earlier than late teens or earky 20s...For the Hawjs,he certainky should be under consideration for our TB pick in the 1st......especially if no more remaining 1stcround RD targets we woukd want with the TB first renain on the board if we already chose Celebrini or Lindstrom with our first selection...but if there is a gifted RD still on the board or if we trade up to movevup to getcthat RD who can make a difference as a pp qb since we already drafted a Center with the first ofvourc2vpucksvib roubdc1,tge Hawks may feelngettibg tgecRD target with our 2nd selectuon is t he way to go.
But if we draftc3rdvorc4thboveralk and took a RD lijec parekh or Levshunov with our selection...THEN surely Letiurneauvwoukd be considered forcourxTB first rounder if he still remains on the board.

The only other reservation aboutc Letourneau that scuts have might be that he does not always playto his size. His coach on this YouTube suggests that he sonetines does but that using his big body in a more physical and gritty wY is sonethibgvthe kid has to work outcas he figures out his identity.. He thinks as he matures and adds more weight to his huge frane that this will come.
So he presents an intriguing prospect...

Perimeter floater last year. Bad. This year it’s still apparent but he does seem to be attacking the center of the ice much more this season. I’ve watched 4 full games. He’s improved. He has the feet to be a good defensive player but he is so slight he needs to get stronger.

Probably a more offensive winger at the next level. Brantford kinda sucks. Hard to gauge his playmaking ability. Has good offensive instincts. He reminds me a bit of Mike Hoffman.
I think after the trade to Hamilton last year that his game started to develop from strictly on the perimeter. His points reflected that. He definitely needs to work on his body.

Sounds like Moore could also use a sniper on his line with chances he creates

Nice to see such a promising collection of talent in our prospect pool with ample more picks to further stock it
Moore has played wing on two different lines and centered two different lines. This past weekend he centered Snuggerud and Pitlick. Moore has a tendency to defer to both and he does not f*** around with long shifts. He's off the ice after 40 seconds or so while they continue for another 30 seconds. They lack chemistry.

I'd almost rather see him center a line with Kurth with the hope that Kurth will start burying the chances that Moore sets up for him.

Btw, Snuggerud can be careless with the puck. I hope that does not bite Team USA in the ass come Worlds Jr time.

I seem to recall reading about some difficulty with Moore finding correct linemates on the USNPDT. Looks like the same situation in Minnesota?

Might be just a situation where he needs to figure out how to play with his speed to involve other players better.

That is 100% the situation. He isn't that creative an offensive player and just blows by everyone. He's an entry and exit machine. I think he's going to be a solid NHL player. Offensive upside I don't see yet but its early on at Minnesota. He'll go back next year and hopefully show some growth.

Except if Hawks get lucky and draft Celebrini ina lotto win, nobody we draft this summer will be inserted into Th e Show in 2024/25 season.

They will sign Landon Slaggert and maybe Colton Dach will also be given a spot with the Hawks...but that is not YET the infusion of more yutes term our draftee pipeline that is "ready" to join the NHL cub i Tge Show.

I expect all our draftees otger than Slaggert currently i the NCAA to do anither year next seasonand for Moore atvleast2 more seasons in the NCAA. So there is not goibg to be a lotvof help coming fro. our draftees pkaying there next season.

This leaves 2 areas where Hawks could offer contracts to fill roster spots and hopefully start improving the team..

1.NHL and Europe free agents..

Hawks have both cap space and cobtract spaces available to augment from both sources. BUT many object to signibg big names by overpayo g ATTHIS TINE..because Hawks Still not ready to be competitive for a pkayoff spot..Thevudea is to wait till Hawks are good several years out before adding premium NHL top freeagents.

Still the pain of watching uncompetitive hockey leading to bottom of the league results for a 3rd straight season next season might put front office pressure on KD to spend on better free agents this summer instead of just anotger guy type free agents.
Do not know who is a free agent target from euro leagues in any ..

2.NCAA free agents.:

This is where KD could add to the talent pool without having to rely solely on tge drafting pipeline.

As to forward s JR.COLIN GRAF RW/C at Quinnipiac (age 21) is an obvious #1target..
He would have been a top target ladt Summer had he left school early.
6'1 194lbs now he is a very productive talent
12GP 10g 13a 23 pts +14 current season to date..Last season he had 59 pts (21g 38a) on 41GP and was +31..coukdvhe leave schools after this season to turn pro?

Another target could be Gabriel Seger(age 24) who is Swedish ...
a Big C/LW at 6'4 209 lbs playing at Cornell who
in addition to his production EXCELS in the dot...Last season he was over 63% taking a lot of draws...this season so far hevs close to 62% on draws..Takes a big quantity of faceoifs..
Currently 11GP 8g 6a 14ts +8...Last season he was 30GP 7g 23a=30pts..

A Jr. at Quinnipiac ,C/LW Jacob Quliian (age 21) 6'0 200lbs might leave early if the team signing Graf convinces him to leave early and join Graf with them.
Currently 17GP 10g 12.a 22ots +8

There are others who could betargets but if I were KD three woukd make nice additions..
I will have to research college dmen free agents or potential free agents to determine ifwe should try to land them.

The Hawks should be aggressive this sumner to try to land top college few agents..
If Graf and Quillan decide to turn pro Hawks shoukd be right on it to land them.

Seger is a Sr.he definitely shoukd be a target..

I think all 3 of them look "Ready".

Agree. The raw tools are there, just needs to learn how to utilize them for the betterment of his linemates.

Stop sugar caring with the fancy analytics...what counts us production and +/- .

Nazar is at ONLY 1.00 ppg which is the same level as Ryan Greene (also at just 2100 ppg)..

Nazar is only 5th on hisxteam in zmichogan scoring BUT is also a team worst -9 ...

Greene is -6 for BU...

Their net impact is about the same..
Maybe still good prospects but hardly Greatness or Difference-maker star impact guys..

Still both suspect given the relatively high negative in the +/- compared to others on their respective teams.

Moore's unimpressive production IS a concern.
.so do not show the fancy analytics to sugar-coat his performance as anything great let alone good....but at least he is a +6 ...

I do not see any of Nazar Greene or Moore as being "ready" for the Show next season .

Not shocked Ludwinski didn't make the cut. I think it's a testament to how well he's played this year that he was invited given how tough last year was for him.

But leaving Firkus off the team is absolutely nuts. Kid is almost 2 PpG in the WHL this year. I also don't get the love for Minten. He's a fine player. Really seems like his spot was given to him merely because he started the year on the Leafs.

Toews under ppg in college. Bust.
He had 46 pts in 34 games in his D1 season. Whatever way you slice it I think it’s fair to say that more production would’ve been expected from Nazar and especially Moore.. Too early to write to anyone off though for sure
