Wguke Bedard will not have turned 18 yet at his draft he stull coukd be in the NHL in the 23/24 season...whike Michkov may be either stick in Russia a few years before he cibesvover ...andvthe Hawks do notvseem to beca Russian prospect haven...so IF we only get 2nd spot in roubd 1 after lotto then woukdcthey trade down 1 for more picksxNd be satisfied with Fantilli who is not Geberational but still woukd have gone #1overall had he been in tgec2022 draft according to mist scouts?
It might seem stupid pid to bypass on Generatiobal talent ...bit of the Return is 3rd overall + 3rd in round 2 and 3rd in roubdx3 That in an exceptionally deep drFt might make us pass on a Geberational talent ..because :
1.Tgexwait for NHL ETA coukd be longer...and 2 Chicago is not a Russkie-friendly shop ...whereas other teams have no issues draftibg Russians.
It just is the way it has been since the 2000 the draft when both our high first rounders taken by Russia friendly GM Mike Smith took the Unibrow and Yakubov and both became busts.
Chicago has traded for done NHL Russkies since 2000 and drafted few in 3rd round or later..bit no Russian draftee "made it" in Chicago ..
So what Hawks do I n that scenario if unfortunately we only get the #2 not the #1next draft ,will be fascinating.
But since thec29233 draft is so much deeper in 2022,we coukl end up drafting 1st or 2nd with our own pick plus 3rd in that roubd which woukd be equivalent to 2 picks in the top 15 of thec2922 draft plus we akso have tge TB first rounder which woukd be late.
So we might then have #3, probably a latec29sxtoblastvpick of round,1 and the 2st,2,nd or 3rd picks of roubd 2 ...plusvour multiple picks in round 3 ..round 2 soit in 2023 = equivalent to 2022 values...round 3 in 2023 = equivalent to roubdc2 talent in 2022.
We will Dominate tgex2023 deep draft even if we trade doen from #2 ..If we get only the #3 after lotto then Fantillivanyway is not a bad cobsikation prize. Even if we do not get an extra high 2ndxabdc3rd in that scenario (butcwexstill havebourvotger pucks forvthisecroubds).
So . Any way you slice it...hopectge Tank works and we drFt at #3or better in next year's drat ..We do not want to Tank onlyvtovdraft 4th or worse..
