Hard for Bedard

If we lose out on Bedard, fine. But please... for the love of God ANYONE but Columbus winning the lottery.
Columbus winning would truly be the worst outcome.

Followed by Montreal because their fanbase would be insufferable about it.

Chicago winning is obviously the best outcome.

Followed by Vancouver winning because Bedard would get to play for his home town.

I agree other than Chicago, Vancouver would be a good fit also because as a franchise they have never won the 1st OA pick in their history and the rivalry and hence hatred of the Canucks has wained considerably.

Yeah I don't pity the no 1st when they fandagled getting a 2nd & 3rd picks that were essentially the real #1 get

But tge NHL knows that if Bedard goes to Van,Anh or SJ it is alk late night starts in Eastern and Central tine zones...less eyes on the "next one"...so chicago best market for him but at least least it is is a favorable time zone to avoid tge West Coast tome problem.

Remember that 11 teams have mathematical chance to win #1...So maybe Detroit gets lucky.?

Could also be STL or Nash or STL IF they finish in worst 11 team

I an sure that most Hawks fans would hate it more if Detroit or Nash ior STL got Bedard. more than if CBJ gets him.

You would think the NHL does not want him in Arizona ...currently arena size problem plying at Arizona State's hockey arena plus late-night time zone most eyeballs in East and Central not watching....plus so far no proof they can grow their market even with a new arena down the line..(maybe*)

* The NHL will know before the 2023 draft if Arizona gets its proposed new 16,000 seat arena or not as it comes up for a vote in May in which local taxpayers either vote to give tax dollars towards it or not...if not then NHL may have to look to move the franchise ...not sustainable with just 5000 current seating caoacity at ASU...

So IF building new arena is approved then maybe Bettman thinks Bedard will be crucial to build fan base and revenues fronvtgexArizoba market and prioritize that over tge time issue for late night viewership from Eastern and Central tine zones wanting to catch the new NHL generational must see suoerstar and nerchvgenerator for the league...as sone old geezer stars fade drom the league overctge next few years.
But if the vote fails to get them a newcareba, you bet Bettman fixes it so that no way does Arizona get Bedard...not if Yotes have to move to God knows where?
Or maybe just fold.

I don't understand why people are so against Columbus winning Bedard. I nothing that team. f***ing St. Louis or Nashville is worst case scenario.

St. Louis unless they move up to the 11th spot, can't win the #1 overall. The best they can do in the lottery currently is #2. Nashville best chance is #4 currently. They are both too far out of the picture.

KK is 3rd in the WHL (behind Bedard and Stankoven) for win share.

Musto is gonna see Cristall sitting up there at #7 and jump around.

Ain't lottery day yet. I just don't get the Columbus hate. They've done nothing but be bad and live in Ohio. Show some mercy.

I dont think it's hate, more reflection of where the team would be if they didn't do the Jones Trade.

The fans that get upset at the idea of Columbus landing Bedard are the same ones that can't/won't get over Stan Bowman.

Good news on Dach
The shoulder injury that forward prospect Colton Dach suffered during the world junior championships wasn’t as bad as it looked. It won’t require surgery, and he will return this season — maybe in the next month or two..

So sports Writer Ken Danieks has egg on his face ..a few days ago he tweeted that Shane Wright would be traded to London Knights from Kingston Frontenacs in return for Oliver Bonk and 6 draft picks but he said deal had not yet been confirmed but he implied he trusted his sources....However...that deal did not happen...instead Wright was traded to Windsor Spitfires for sobe players and picks...itcapoears Lindon did not want to pay the asking price ...especially RD Oliver Bonk who is a 2023 first time draft eligible exoected now to go in round 1 ofctge draft and who may be a riser to go earlier in round one than many had earlier prognosticators because he has played so well this season so far for London and seems to be accelerating his performances recently to tge point London did not want to part with him since Wright would basically be a 2nd half rental while Bonk probably stars on their bluelie for at least more seasons after the 2023 draft..

In any case Daniel's called it wrong...made headlines...nowchas egg on his face...and one wonders if anyone trusts him again abdcheciscnowxreduuced to a joke like a hockey buzz e3 runour that never pans out ..

Wow! Otswa 67s just traded 9 draft oicks over future years for Pavel Mintyukov thevOHL all-star dman from Saginaw..This after a few days ago trading 6 draft picks for Logan Morrison.from Hamikton..

So they loaded up went all in to get the #2l leading OHL scorer Logan Morrison an tge #3 OHL leading scorer (Mintyukov) ...

Ottawa was leading the Eastern Ohio Firenze before the acquisitions...Now stacked to compete for the OHL Championship...a a cost of 15 future draft picks spread over a couple of years..

London which is 1st in the West did not move to get Shane Wright ...but Windsor decided to go for Wright to boost their teambecause Kingston wanted Oliver Bonk and 6 picks for himand they did notcwabt to trade draftcekigibke Bonk.

The OHL has a rule that does not allow teams to trade their 1st round future picks forvthe OHL draft...

So whike quantity of picks I these trade deadline blockbuster deals involve only sonec2ndvand 3rd rounders plus later round picks spread over several years..
BUT there are lots of rounds to an OHL draft and you can afford to give up the picks they do because they know their scouts can find players who can develop even from middle and late rounds.

Do you think KD will tap NCAA college free agent market this off-season?

are low to the ice.
.last season he exploded with 139 points in 60GP

SR. Western Michigan
. team captain
.exciting skill...fantastic hands

good quality scoring chances

Into goid scoring chances...
.skating ability creates odd man rushes
.sniper with good shot...pp triigger man
.can use his 200lb frame to lean into defenders..

22GP 19g 11a +17

If we can get both Polin and McCallister they already have chemistry pkayong together...

Now a look at potential NCAA free agent dmen targets thisviff season...of coursevifvtheycstill have eligibility tgey coukd go back for moore school again:

1 Jake Livingstone RD 6'3 205
.JR. Minnesota St.
22GP 5g 16a +4

2 way dman..top on D crop thisx year

Probably a top free agent last year if he had not gone back for another season.

.versatile...plays PO qb and PK
.can be string STAH dman but good outlet passes...
.strong pont shot ...Rt. shot
.good quick decisions
.good puck retrieval
. Plays physical on crease and corners..
.onlybissuecuscifcsjating is good enough for NHL level.

2. Nick Leivermann age 24 LD 5'11 185
5th yr. NOTRE DAME
18GP 5g 8a +4

...former 7th rounder 2017 Colorado who did not sign hom and lost his rights...

. slates at high level
.defends space well
.string puck-handler
.elite shot

But due to size projects as only 3rd pair if he getsto NHL

3. Akita Hirose age. 23 LD 6'0 170
JR. Minnesota St.
21GP 0g 15a +4...but hexwss +30 and+28 2st 3 season with better teaming thise seasons...

...tough dman
...above average in every area of the ice
...strength and puck control best qualities..

4. Zach Mesa age 24 RD 5'9 181
5th Yr QUINNIPIAC
20GP 3g 11a +20
...undersized ...short but strong..
.good skater...quick exit breakouts
.aggressive defender
.has hard shot..

But again will size limit his ceiling if he makes NHL?

5 Sam Malinski age 24 RD 5'11 190
JR. CORNELL

16GP 2g7a +3
. average defender but possess good shot though slow in release...hadxaxdiwn season ..still needs development but already 24 so questionmarks.

6. Colton Huard age 21 RD 6'4 201

SOPH. NEW HAMPSHIRE
23GP 3g 12a -13

.Plays PP qb and 2nd pairing in ES
.good puck handler
.accuratec1 timer

.issue is he is not physical and too easy for opps forwards to escape from his checks...so if an NHL team thinks it can develop him to play stickier on checks then maybe he can transition to NHL...

7.Jakob Bengtsson age 23 LD 6'3 203
JR. LAKE SUPERIOR ST.

22GP 1g 13a+2

.big Swede
.strong defender....plays intelligent game
..maybe best LD potential for NHL of
this crop

But offensive skill only average t
Though he can handle the puck...

.best at d-zone coverage and active stick

.takes puck off opos in corners and then can play it up to team-mates for break-outs drinks d-zone..

.more puck mover than puck carrier...

.BuT he does not need a lot of development ...might be able to play right away as reliable pro defender.

We don’t have much to offer college FAs other than playing time as the contract is set for everyone and guaranteed playing time. What other teams may guarantee is playing time and a team that makes the playoffs. That is where we will lose out.

It's not just playing time. The Hawks offer one of the least competitive paths to the NHL currently and they get to play in a top-5 NHL market. A 22/23-year-old college kids isn't concerned about making the playoffs. He's concerned about getting an NHL paycheque and having an opportunity to make the NHL.
