All Fox has to do is look at our defensive depth chart and he'll go running into the Rangers' arms.
I can take this comment either way - 1. we have shit depth at the NHL level and he should sign here to play immediately....or 2. we have a ton of kids coming up and the potential spot for him isn't going to be there...not sure what side you went with to be honest lol

Gonna guess the second one since most of our top prospects are RH defenseman and he's RH. Hell even if Boqvist plays the left it's still alot of bodies on the right.

Definitely the 2nd option. We have Jokiharju, Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, Krys, and Carlsson all within a year or two of fighting for roster spots. Fox isn't gonna be interested in fighting with all of them for a spot on our roster.

And just think, besides all those prospects I just listed, we also have Forsling (22), Dahlstrom (24), Koekkoek (25), Murphy (26), and Gustafsson (27) who are all either young or inexperienced (Murphy has the most experience, but he won't have a playoff game under his belt until at least after he hits 27).

Quite the logjam of defensemen.

Well it's about the future. Itll be after next season so he would be trying to join a roster that just had the dominating rookie seasons by Mitchell and Boqvist along with 2nd year stud Jokiharju.... too much hopefulness?

But these northeast guys going into college udfa seem to always want to say there. I'm not for being afraid of drafting college guys but if they're from that area and committed to a college in that area I would worry some.

Side note, Chad Krys playing his first game with the Icehogs tonight

Back in this thread...I added into a comment on the Kuba like thread as I posted that I was watching Beaudin tonight as Game 4 in the QMJHL playoff series between Gatineau and
Drummondville as the game us on Rogers cable here in Ottawa (in Frebch) ....Beaudin's Voligeurs lead the series 3-0 and could sweep tonight ...Beaudin scored the 1st goal of the game in Period 1 and Drummondville led 2-1 after 1 period...Gatineau tied it 2-2 now after 2 periods of play.

I mssed the entire 1st period as I was not yet back from dinner out. ..

Beaudin was on for the 2nd Gatineau score to tie it. .To me he could should done a better job of moving the Gatineau player screening the goalie just in front of the crease ..So because he failed to shove him off the screen ,Beaudin had his back to the shot coming from the point and it got by theor goalie..But this trait is common to all Hawks dmen (failing to shove guys out of the crease area so goalies can see the puck and the practice I hate most ...when dmen have their backs to a shooter ...it seems nobody Stan has on his rostervor ivn the pipeline is capable of shoving guys outvobfcour goakie's sight line then properly facing shots coming from distance and blocking them instead of being unaware shot is coming because their back us turned And they do not clear the screener anyway.

I think we gotta find a d-zone coach who can teach our dmen how to clear the crease then face incoming shots to block properly.
I see other NHL teams defend properly by clear g guys out and not having their backs to incoming shots.

Why cannot Stan find guys who can do this properly.

On the good side...Beaudin skates well and he looks bigger than the usual 5'11 174 listing ...looks more like 6'1 and 185 to me ..but still got lots to learn about how to defend against oops guys screenin in front of his team's net.

We are a bit over 10 minutes remaining in period 3...Gatineau leads Drummondville 3-2 ...

Puck mostly in Gatineau end as the Voltigeurs pressuring to tie...

Beaudin playing well in this period ...

while the cupboard is getting filled nicely, it still will take another yr or 2 after they make the nhl.

both Beaudin and Carlsson are doing great per their production.... esp Carlsson in his first yr in North America .... scoring for who was considered a shutdown d-man.

Gatineau scores into empty net to go up 4-2 ...Beaudin on ice ...so his Stat line will read 1g 0a -2 ... still. 7 seconds remaining ...puck in Gatineau zone...icing...back into Gatineau zone...10.8 seconds remaining and Gatineau goes to short PP now...1 face off left in Gatineau zone...game over ...Gatineau wins Game 4 and trails 3 games to 1 in the series.

3rd period mostly played in Gatineau zone but their goalie held the Volyigeurs off ...

Beaudoin played pretty well excot for thatch fail to clear his crease of a screener in period 2 ...If you are not going to move the guy when your back is turned to point shots that may come in,to invite trouble. EITHER clear guys or face and block incoming shots..never do the double whammy if death...fail to clear and turn your back to the okay. .So Beaudoin needs a coaching moment (but we can say this a lot for Hawks dmen too) .

On the good side...besides his goal which I missed in period 1,he did some good things ...directing the play at the point or side boards when puck was in Gatineau zone...breaking up plays in the neutral zone...and pinching in deep to join scrum at the Gatineau crease..

He also showed treat recovery skill after a fumblevofcsvpass to him was taken away by a Gatineau player ..but Beaudin calm skated with the guy and eventually stole the puck back and immediately was in transition back into the Gatineau zone ..

So while I did not see Ntthi g spectacular from him..there was solid play except for that 1 fail to clear crease and turned back to the play error which allowed a goal against ..I will chalk that mistalevupto a learnibg moment that should be fixed with proper coaching ...if you are not sure you can clear a guy from your crease ,just face out and try to block incoming shot ...if you are gonna turn your back on the play you had better excite the shove of the crease huggers ..or else you are inviting disaster.

It should be simple hockey 101.

But in all othercaspectschexwss very solid to my eyes though nothing spectacular (but again I only saw the last 2 periods and missed his opening goal of the game)...

One thing I'm wondering is if the Hawks had Fox higher than Krys but passed on Fox because they viewed him as a flight risk.
