I hope everybody that wanted to trade him last offseason thinks long and hard about how it would have felt to see him do this on another team instead.
If that happened than Dubas would get blamed for trading him.I hope everybody that wanted to trade him last offseason thinks long and hard about how it would have felt to see him do this on another team instead.

He needs to develop a shot and some accuracy. Misses the net far too often for an elite player.
Are people whining?
Marner did not get called for a penalty. His first game where he whiffed on a puck and then took a penalty had more posts about it than when he dominates in a game.

Vancouver Canucks - Toronto Maple Leafs - February 6th, 2021
You're right and my mistake for not remembering that. His first game
Is he more relieved that his contract negotiation is long behind him, Mike Babcock was fired, or could it be equally both of those things?Another good game. You can tell he is a lot different than last year. Glad he moves past that.
The problem for this regular season is that Marner and the Maple Leafs are going to be playing the same six teams in the regular season. Even in the playoffs if Toronto was to make the Conference Finals they still need to play and defeat two Canadian teams just to get that far.Wanna see him play against tougher competition before crowning him a different player. Marner has always had high highs and low lows, and the lack of defensive structure in this division is an environment he would thrive in with more space and time. I'm really curious if he reverts to being the high risk/reward player when the games get tighter later into the season and into the playoffs.
I think it was more like the contract is behind him and the fans and medias are not on him about that anymore. Is he more relieved that his contract negotiation is long behind him, Mike Babcock was fired, or could it be equally both of those things?
If you believe the reports after the whole list controversy Marner's father was so mad at Babcock he didn't want to go on the fathers trip. I don't know if that's true or if he followed through on that, because I honestly don't remember if they mentioned if he was not there.I think it was more like the contract is behind him and the fans and medias are not on him about that anymore.
He did had his career best under Babs, I don’t think Babs not being here is a factor.
I don’t recall that at all.If you believe the reports after the whole list controversy Marner's father was so mad at Babcock he didn't want to go on the fathers trip. Marner running at a 136 pt pace and the Marner haters have disappeared for a while.
Yeah it helps, but he’s also only 23 and still improving and becoming more comfortable in the league so he’s just getting better overall. He’s looking like Mitch Marner of the London Knights right nowWhen you're in the Art Ross conversation, that'll happen. He wasn't this good last season.
I think the fact he's improved his shot even just a little is making him more of a dual threat along the lines of a Patrick Kane so now they're not just cheating for him to pass.
He has 97 points in the last 82 games played. Saying he wasn't that good from 136 point pace is a bit specious. Of course not but he was still putting up.elite numbers. When you're in the Art Ross conversation, that'll happen. He wasn't this good last season.

Yeah this guy.
Yep, doing well.
He's in the elite of the game but he's also making more than Stone, Kucherov etc etc so if you're making over and above the other elite players at the position, you've raised the expectations. I think that left a bad taste in people's mouth. That being said, he's playing so damn well this season that people don't care. Clearly Matthews and Marner are worth what they're being paid.
It is on Dubas now to fill out a team around them that is capable of taking us all the way now.
