Here is Marner's goals from the 2018-19 and 2019-20 Seasons.A simple youtube search could find you tons of goals Marner scoring with goalies in net. Why even bother...
Last season I seem to remember Zach Hyman scoring a lot more empty net goals than Marner.
Hyman signed that contract after his 2 year ELC when he was coming off a 10 goal, 18 assist, and 28 points during the 2016-17 Season. So you can not compare his contract to the player he's become today.Your right. But the leafs sure got great value out Hyman's contract. The hardest working Leaf, thats a player you don't trade.
Marner is paid 63% in the first half of his contract. Rantanen is paid 61%. There's barely a difference.Marner is significantly more front loaded.
You're massively exaggerating the difference signing bonuses make. And as mentioned, signing bonuses are mutually beneficial for Toronto, and largely used to counter the tax discrepancy. And signing bonuses is something that every player desperately wants.
NHL scoring leader.
He held out for more money, bent the team over for every penny, and is now paid like a top 5 player in the league, which he isn't. Not even close. He doesn't even give a 100% effort most nights.I really don't understand the bashing of this kid?

Now do you understand?
Leads all wingers in history of the Leafs under 24 years of age in assists. Still 50 games to go so he should have a good hold on it by then. So he is trusted to be on the ice defensively in a close game AND leads the league in points. But Marner is the league leader in empty net goals. That's how he pads his goal numbers.
And for 8 mil, I'd shower him with compliments. But not for 11. He had another awful game today, but he got his weekly empty netter and so I bet you think he played alright.Leads all wingers in history of the Leafs under 24 years of age in assists. What about the fact Marner had the primary assist on Tavares game winning goal. Isn't that better compared to him scoring into the empty net?And for 8 mil, I'd shower him with compliments. He's become the new scapegoat for some. Sad to see because he's so talented and exciting to watch. What about the fact Marner had the primary assist on Tavares game winning goal. Isn't that better compared to him scoring into the empty net?
Its all the nylander fanboys criticizing marner to prop up their soft heroI really don't understand the bashing of this kid?
Since Marner is making $10.893 million I don't care how he gets his goals or assists, because they all count even when he scores a goal into the empty net. He's become the new scapegoat for some. Sad to see because he's so talented and exciting to watch.
Would you like a list of comparables in money ahead of him in points tonight. Its easy zero. Personally i think he could captain a teamAnd for 8 mil, I'd shower him with compliments. But not for 11.
