Everything I said was true. You're just not understanding what was said. Things that happened in 2010 and 2015 aren't relevant to our discussion. We were discussing the 2009 playoffs, as those were the only playoffs Kane participated in prior to signing. The teams that Chicago defeated in those playoffs (Vancouver, Calgary) were of lower quality than the teams Toronto had faced prior to Marner signing (Washington, Boston, Boston). If you're going to reply to me, please stick to the actual discussion.Don't say how Chicago defeated easier opponents when they defeated teams ahead of them in the 2010 Western Conference Final, 2015 Western Conference Final, and 2015 Stanley Cup Final and not expect to get called out on something like that.
You still fail to acknowledge that Marner has never been apart of a playoff series win. Even if you think he was a better playoff performer than Kane which I don't agree with, other people will mention team success why Kane has been better since the 2009 playoffs.Everything I said was true. There is one difference with MacKinnon and his contract. He signed that 7 year/$6.3 million AAV deal after he recorded 21 goals, 31 assists, and 52 points in the 2015-16 Season. If he had 39 goals, 58 assists, and 97 points like he did in the 2017-18 Season and was 2nd in Hart Trophy voting a lot a few years earlier, chances are he's making a lot more than $6.3 million AAV.This thread is so weird.
People kept going back and forth about Marner’s contract and his productions, using comparable like Kane....
He is being paid like a top 10 players in the league and if you are being paid like a top 10 player in the league, you better be one the best player in the games you play- game in and game out, along with helping your team get the W.
Mackinnon is arguably the top 3 players in the league and along with his contract, he is by far the most wanted(by teams) player. He is literally getting as many points as McDavid for half his contract but he is leading his team to playoff series Wins.
But when he signed his contract, it was not received as a good contract plus his coaches once thought he would be better as a RW than a C.
Point I am trying to make is, as long as the team is winning and the player is producing, who cares how much these players are getting paid or their comparables....
Honestly, not going jump into this Kane Vs Marner debate but I think it is fair to say, all of us would be more than thrill if Marner can have the same success as Kane, like winning 3 Cups while being a Leafs plus other individual awards.
1. 52pts for 6.3mil was an overpaid contract at that time. Don’t think he got over 60 pts in his ELC.There is one difference with MacKinnon and his contract. When Stamkos signed that 5 year/$7.5 million contract he had won his first Rocket Richard in the 2009-10 Season when he scored 51 goals, which was in his 2nd NHL season.1. 52pts for 6.3mil was an overpaid contract at that time. Don’t think he got over 60 pts in his ELC.
2. There is no doubt his contract would be different if he had the 97pts season in his last year of his ELC. However, would that contract be the 7th highest contract in the league? Nobody knows. I think at that time the highest post ELC contract was 7.5mil for 5-6years. Stamkos probably had the best ELC stats, and he signed for 7.5mil/5yrs. Ofcourse the cap was lower as well as the highest AVV was around 9mil instead of 12.5mil. No point trying to compare and justify... what’s done is done.
Leafs just need to win and players need to perform.
I haven't failed to acknowledge it. In fact, I've literally been talking about it. It's just not something that would have had any significant impact on his contract. You still fail to acknowledge that Marner has never been apart of a playoff series win.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves and hope that Marner does shot a lot more because him finishing ahead of McDavid to win the Art Ross is not likely to happen. If it did that would be a major surprise. He uses his shot more this season and beats McDavid for the art ross trophy
In the last three seasons MacKinnon has had 97 points in 74 games, 99 points in 82 games, and 93 points in 69 games.Wrong he will also finish ahead of Mckinnion playing the send and oilers lots this year will help him rack up the points on blow out wins.
I would like to revisit this statement in 5 or 6 monthsWrong he will also finish ahead of Mckinnion playing the send and oilers lots this year will help him rack up the points on blow out wins.
we can put it beside all your slamsI would like to revisit this statement in 5 or 6 months

Good god. Please go awayI know this would never happen but with reports of Dubois wanting out of Columbus, I’d be all over that if I were Dubas.
Marner + Engvall for Dubois + Texier/Foudy
OR
Marner + Dermott for Dubois + Gavrikov + later pick
Lol...other Kane.where is Kane you ask>...
