Unless it's a really special player like Doughty, guys with junior eligibility should not be in the NHL, especially on bad teams.

Storr, Berg, Moller and Clifford were ruined.

Biggest problem I have with a lot of GMs. Zero reason to rush players. Just because they CAN play there, doesn't mean its best for them.

I doubt Toffoli gets taken out of the top six. He looked decent at LW enough to try it out(for the rest of the season).

Toffoli/Kopitar/Carter
King/Richards/Williams
Clifford/Stoll/Nolan
Pearson/Vey/Lewis

Had it with Brown I see

Can't wait to see what Sutter does to bench all 3 of Pearson/Vey/Frattin.

Nothing happened today? Really? I wanted that Clifford for Gagner to go down just for the carnage it would cause.

Frattin is def the new whipping boy with Fraser gone. I know people like to hate on Muzzin, but I would say Frattin has been the most disapointing this year.

Brown is a close #2.

based on responsibility/role/contract, i would say Brown is without a doubt the most disappointing player in a Kings sweater this season. Frats makes, what, 900k?. plus, Dean made out like a bandit in the Bernier trade so its not like we gave up a bunch to get him

DL only made out in the Bernier deal because he was able to flip Scrivens for a 3rd...so essentially Frattin, cash, a 2nd and a 3rd. Not that great. AEG has tons of cash (joke), Frattin sucks, so that makes a 2nd and a 3rd for a former 1st rounder and now #1 goalie. Varlamov landed a 1st AND a 2nd and he was just as unproven as Bernier.

Wasn't cash. Don't believe you can even trade cash anymore. It was cap...something much much more important to a team that is lucky to be backed by AEG who is willing to spend the cap.

I wish Brown would just shut it down for the year, and have surgery to repair that leg.

Come back 100% for next season. It would give him some much needed rest Physically, and mentally.

It's what Teemu Selanne did, and he came back looking faster/Better.

i would take Callahan for Brown in a 1 on 1 trade. with Callahan at least you get accountability each game. Brown goes stealth silent for days if not weeks during down times

I think any thing to get rid of Brown's contract would be good at this point. Although Callahan wants more money than Brown makes so I'm not sure I would want to re-sign him.

Mayor on West Coast Bias reporting AMac a King by the deadline if they can't get Girardi basically. Better pony up and get Dan because MacDonald is worse defensively than Muzzin and his production will obviously drop in LA.

He also had Clifford traded for Gagner as a done deal before the Olympic break. I guess I'll believe it when I see it (and yes, I know, he's got his sources, but I'm not banking on him to bat 100%).

For what it's worth I think Gagner to LA was very close to being a done deal, a few people reported on it.
Saying LA are involved in the Amart talks is not really a bold prediction.

So basically some of you want to trade a signed Brown for an unsigned Brown who wants to be paid more than the Brown we have now. Why?

Given his contract, I think Dean needs to give Brown time to get his game back on track. He was having a fine season last year until the injury occurred. I know the way he plays will lead him to decline at some point and that may be sooner rather than later, but I think you have to wait and see what happens with him.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. We could probably get him for a 1st or less (likely Amart/Muzzin and a lower pick), and he is a cheap solution that could stick around a while and if he doesn't work out with Drew he can at the very least replace Mitchell.

I'd be surprised if we won the bid war for Girardi, but who knows with Dean. We know how he values defense and he probably wants a defender more than a winger, so he might be willing to go the distance. He'd be a good fit.

Darren Dreger said on Team 1040 that the Kings might kick the tires on Callahan. No thank you!

I think Dreger is just throwing ideas around. He's been all over the place the last year or so with rumors and is now becoming prone to wild speculation. I doubt we look to acquire another winger like Brown for the moment, especially at that cost. He's a DL type of player, but we are really limited and tied down to what we can do.

Yeah, he is starting to scare me, but he needs the benefit of the doubt and another offseason and we will see where he is at early next year. If his play continues though, we may be left with some tough choices this time next year.

To put things in perspective, here's what another NHL GM says about acquiring dmen at the deadline:

https://twitter.com/RobRossi_Trib/status/438378177266991104
Shero: 'At this point, adding any NHL defensemen for any team is going to be difficult.' Trade deadline March 5

We saw that a mid-pairing, stay-at-home defenseman like Regehr cost the Kings two 2nd round picks. Who knows what a team is going to surrender to acquire a MacDonald or Girardi or whoever else may be available.

I remember when Hal Gill was traded to Pittsburgh for a 2nd and a 5th. So yeah, anything is possible at the deadline.

So Hemsky has been moved to the LW on the 2nd line in practice for Edmonton. Hemsky/Gagner/Eberle....

Coach denies this is to showcase Hemsky. Not sure I'm buying that.

Think Dennis Bernstein pointed this out...

Heh, maybe, but they are probably dealing with their own problems and struggles. More likely a move to get Gagner some more points and deal him to Nashville :P I predicted that Hemsky would be a likely target for us, along with Amac, because both are cheap, relatively easy to be had, and would both fit within our tight salary structure. I think when Dean loses out on a few of these big bid wars, those two will probably be amongst the best options remaining.
