Hate to see a young player like Kulikov struggle. They did the same thing with Ellerby and are doing it right now with Gudbranson and Kulikov. Too much too soon. Compare that to how Buffalo is treating the likes of Zadorov, Ristolainen now, and have treated Pysyk in the past. It's a rebuilding team in the bottom of the league and they are not throwing 18-20 year olds to the wolves. They did that with Grigorenko and paid for it. Florida hasn't learned much.

Can't say I at all agree with Florida's method of development of defenseman these days....just my opinion though.

Yeah I agree, I remember when Kulikov and Gudbranson were going to be two of the best young defensemen in the league and now both their developments have stalled.

Now could the Kings save Kulikov's development? I'm not sure I'll ask one of you guys who are more intelligent on the subject.

teams with no current talent and they push kids into the line up to quickly. any team that is at that point needs to follow DL's plan and utilize more 'bridge' players. let your prospects learn and improve in the AHL, ECHL, NCAA or Jrs. to many prospect's careers get ruined by rushing them

Yea, as big a mess as Buffalo is...I thought picking up Tallinder, bringing up Sulzer and McNabb (who is ready) was way more intelligent than pushing Zadorov and Ristolainen. Same with picking D'Agostini off of waivers. People might laugh at them now, but it's a stop gap while others develop in a more suitable position.

It's a classic problem with rebuilding teams. They get these high first rounders who aren't Drew Doughty/Sidney Crosby/Alex Ovechkin and can't play in the NHL at 18. They have no better options so they force it. Baertschi is a good example as well.

Kings sort of did that with Moller in my opinion but that's neither here nor there.

very few 18-year olds will and can make it their rookie season, especially as a consistent roster player. i'm not even talking about the guys that stay up and are frequent scratches, or bounce back to the AHL and back again. any team that follows this method is most likely stunting the kids development, but they feel they need to keep that top pick up with the big club.

i blame management for this type of situation. they are the ones to build a roster and provide development, when they don't then it becomes a never ending Florida, Edmonton, Calgary, the list goes on.

when the team fails the fans call for change the following season. instead of properly putting the bridge players out there on the ice, they cave to the fans and rush that #1 pick. this only leads to the player failing and the team still failing, so the cycle repeats. year after year after year.

this was LA for decades, until Dean and Lieweekly arrived and stuck it out. i remember being excited about the Aki Berg's and Josh Green's that were going to help turn the club around. not so much

What are we looking at here now with Fraser out and the kid line up...

I wonder if the Kings keep the kid line together...

King-Kopitar-Carter
Brown-Richards-Williams
Pearson-Vey-Toffoli
Clifford-Stoll-Lewis/Nolan/Frattin

I doubt Toffoli gets taken out of the top six. He looked decent at LW enough to try it out(for the rest of the season).

Toffoli/Kopitar/Carter
King/Richards/Williams
Clifford/Stoll/Nolan
Pearson/Vey/Lewis

Frattin is def the new whipping boy with Fraser gone. I know people like to hate on Muzzin, but I would say Frattin has been the most disapointing this year.

Brown is a close #2.

Yeah I had high hopes for Frattin but he has been a total dud, he shows flashes some nights then will completely disappear the next game.

Unless it's a really special player like Doughty, guys with junior eligibility should not be in the NHL, especially on bad teams.

Storr, Berg, Moller and Clifford were ruined. Jokinen never reached his full potential and Brown was saved by the lockout.
