Heh, maybe, but they are probably dealing with their own problems and struggles. More likely a move to get Gagner some more points and deal him to Nashville :P I predicted that Hemsky would be a likely target for us, along with Amac, because both are cheap, relatively easy to be had, and would both fit within our tight salary structure. I think when Dean loses out on a few of these big bid wars, those two will probably be amongst the best options remaining.

so does that mean Perron is down to their third line?

Lombardi: So how much for that small cup there that looks like it'll be good for a few things I need, but not useful for much else?

MacTavish: *mumble mumble*

Lombardi: Woah. That's expensive. Do you think you can give me a bit of a discount seeing as I'm a repeat customer?

MacTavish: I might have another buyer lined up and this isn't a charity, Dean.

Lombardi: Okay then, how much for that fragile looking glass cup there with the chip in it?

MacTavish: Used to be worth a whole lot more, but not so much these days. Hard to even give it away...

Lombardi: I'll just have to be careful so it doesn't break or hurt me when I use it then.

Sutter: Just get a big, heavy mug. You can use it for just about everything, eh?

I just noticed that Girardi is another RD so I don't see how he's a fit as he won't be able to play with Doughty or Voynov.

Given his contract, I think Dean needs to give Brown time to get his game back on track. He was having a fine season last year until the injury occurred. I know the way he plays will lead him to decline at some point and that may be sooner rather than later, but I think you have to wait and see what happens with him.

The issue with Brown, just like with Richards is the huge risk in bringing both of them back next year and watching them continue to deteriorate. There will be a market this summer because GM's will be willing to risk them rebounding, if they play like this again next season there will be zero market in the summer of 2015 and the Kings are in cap hell.

I absolutely believe one of them should be moved this summer for cap flexibility reasons for the next six seasons. Don't forget, both Kopitar and Doughty will be UFA eligible long before those two guys contracts are off the books.

Yes Brown's contract is a risk, but one that Dean was willing to take fairly recently. I think the question Dean has to be asking his medical staff is, "Is Brown's knee still bothering him and making him less effective? Will it heal 100% at some point?" I don't think Dean will trade Brown unless he gets something of equal or greater value that the Kings actually need, say a rugged 25-29 year old defenseman that can handle playing with Doughty. I don't think Dean will "dump" Brown in a trade.

Richards could be a bit of a question mark going forward. I want to reserve judgment and wait to see how he plays down the stretch and in the playoffs.

The cap will be going up so I am not too worried about signing Doughty and Kopitar, especially since Doughty is only on year 2 of an 8 year deal I believe.

So MacTavish has come out and said that the Oilers will be looking to add draft picks to replace the ones he traded earlier in the off-season and during the season (from the Perron and Scrivens trades).

At no point to I think Richards or Brown will Deteriorate to the point where they become untradeable. Look at Horcoff in Edmonton. Sure we may not get anything more than just their cap hits off of our books at some point, but we still won't be tuck with them should they not turn things around

Brown for resigned girardi +2nd (not sure if value is good...) then flip pearson +stoll+1st for vanek.
Roll with:
Vanek-kopi-williams
King-carter-toffoli. Or toffoli-richards-carter
Clifford-richards-frattin or king-vey-frattin
Lewis-vey-nolan. Or Clifford-lewis-nolan

Doughty-girardi
Voynov-mitchell/regher
Muzzin/amart-green
Giving all the old d days off in order to keep fresh figure the best to leave scratched by playoff time.am I crazy? Thoughts?sub girardi for another realistic (tradeable) partner for doughty.

Why would the Rangers trade a signed Girardi?

This is hypothetical and contingent on dl actually ever considering trading brown whom I do not in any way hate.the way I understand it is dean puts brown on the table and asks sather for permission to speak with girardi and his agent to confirm they would sign with the kings I.e. handshake agreement like I'm sure he had with regher before sending 2 2nds to buf.rangers would not be signing and trading anyone simply giving permission for a team to talk to them before trading them for a player who is under contract already and a replacement for another player they will also most likely trade.

Frankly, I think that is a severe overpayment for a guy that may not stick around. Did he ever mention L.A. as a destination? I never heard him say it. I think we are pretty low on his list if he has a preference of where he'd prefer to go. Not to say he wouldn't mind the weather and a chance for the cup, but it's not his first choice.

I don't think it's hate, I think people are just getting scared of his contract

Either way the guy performs like clockwork every year, and during this season, which is an obvious anomaly, many people are acting like he should be traded for anything. I believe he'll rebound next year. His consistency outside of this season reaffirms that. Trading him for Callahan is a ridiculous notion.

His contract doesn't scare me as much as his ****** performance. I thought playing in a different system in the Olympics would change things, but Christ he looked bad.

Pretty much this. I was extremely disappointed with Brown prior to the Olympics, but after seeing him continue to be absolutely worthless on Team USA, I've nearly lost hope.

lololololol...

"Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com writes that the Philadelphia Flyers will need an 'impact defenceman' if they want to make the playoffs, thinking that a player like Andrew MacDonald of the New York Islanders..."

Yup, I thought the Olympics is exactly what he needed. he looked terrible and it does have me a little concerned.
I wish he never was named to the team, maybe that would have sparked him to re-prove himself.

Brown scares me as well. I'm ready to let him go if he plays like this for the next month.

I am not ready to give up on him, but I no longer think he is untouchable.
If we could use him to get a top D to play with Doughty that would be ideal to me. Especially as he is only playing 3rd line minutes. Ehrhoff maybe

Welcome to pro sports, when you don't produce you get critiqued. Brown should get down on his knees and kiss the Manhattan Beach ground because if he was in a bigger hockey market he'd be getting it from the fans wherever he went. Again, it's way too easy to play here, you can have the worst season of your career and still go to the grocery store and nobody even knows who you are. No pressure from the fans or the one media person who follows the Kings who is also paid by the Kings. It's hockey Utopia when you stink-and Brown stinks right now.
