Miller for Tkachuck? It actually makes a ton of sense if both teams want to stay competitive. They both have lots of friends/former teammates on each team, they also both could fall into the proper windows for their teams. They could even expand the deal and add Garland and Anderson to the deals, one helps the RD problem for Vancouver and Miller/Garland try to help offset JG and MT. It’s not perfect, but it is possible.

Lol, as a Nucks fan I'd add almost anything to JT Miller and Garland in a package for Tkachuk and Andersson...

One of Rathbone, Hoglander, Lekkerimaki, possibly even the 2023 first.
With those guys on the roster, Vancouver is easily a playoff team.

Pretty sure JT Miller has less than zero intention of re-signing in Calgary, if they can't even get Gaudreau and Tkachuk to stay.

Miller for Tkachuck?
Assuming we retain half, I have questions.

What are we, the holders JT Miller's contract, add for and RFA Tkachuk?

Who do we ditch to make cap space for Tkachuk?

Who plays center for the Canucks without Miller?

What is our long term plan regarding Tkachuk?

With what pieces do we address our RHD and futures needs?

What is Calgary's cap situation if they go through with this, and can they keep the rest of their team at the same level after losing Tkachuk and Gaudreau in one off season?

Depends, he has tons of friends on that team and Alberta has a lower tax bracket and cap space. Not to mention if he goes there they are still a contender.

JT Miller is the first flight out of Calgary to anywhere USA the first chance he gets.

The Flames know it, he knows it, the Flames are not gonna risk that.

After getting shit on by Fox, Gaudreau, and Tkachuk, I think Calgary is basically a no-go for any high profile American player that has a NTC.

JT Miller has never requested a trade out of Vancouver, by all reports he just wants to get paid what he feels he’s worth and the fact Vancouver can give him 8 years is a bonus.

We have two beliefs I subscribe to:

Miller deserves a big pay day, and so does Miller.

Vancouver should not be signing Miller long term with a high cap hit.

I have heard nothing of him wanting out of Vancouver, but unless everything our management has said has been a lie regarding the teams window and direction, he isn't a fit. Prior to Kuzmenko and Mikheyev joining up, I didn't think the team could still try to compete with a Miller trade, but now we're stocked up on forwards and can afford Miller and even another like Garland or Boeser being moved for multiple smaller pieces and not be a 170 goal team.

Sounds like Miller deserves a big pay day.

came here to post that jt miller falls to third place now behind kadri, who is free if you pay him, and tkachuk, who is 25. i like the creativity of a tkachuk - miller trade guys, but i think miller is on the back burner now until these guys are sorted out.

Not saying the value is there, but it would buy Calgary the time they need before the deadline of the arb hearing...

Miller's contract is going to be based on what Kadri gets. He's his closest comparable. Any team interested in Miller longer term is going to see how Kadri shakes out, then if they think it's the kind of deal they can make work, they'll ask to chat with Miller's agent, and if that goes somewhere they make an offer.

Until then, I think we're in a holding pattern. Miller's camp doesn't quite know whether their demands are realistic until Kadri signs.

Because we are trying to align the ages of our core. MT is a 40 goal 100pt scorer and exactly what the team could use to replace JT’s grit and type of game. Not many regular fans know this, Quinn Hughes lived with the Tkachuck family for a few years while going through minor Hockey. Boeser/Demko/Hughes I know are all former teammates/friends. Other Americans he might know are Garland/Poolman/Rathbone etc. They are all roughly the same age and Vancouver is one of the nicest places to live around the world. There are a lot of Matt Tkachuck connections you could make for an argument that he would resign in Vancouver long term.

But if MT doesnt want to sign here long term, why bother? get other assets with long term control.

Because Tkachuck is worth more on the open market than Miller, but they have the pieces in Calgary where they will want to compete now. JT Miller going there is a 100pt 1st line Center that would fit a Sutter system perfectly. With the Calgary scenario they have a lot less leverage as it’s basically made public that he is leaving, they need to replace him the best they can. I’m sure we could pry Schneider out of a Tkachuck deal, it doesn’t seem that way with a Miller deal.

Hence, worst case you can flip him or if he’s willing to resign, you can extend him. It’s definitely worth exploring, unicorns like him are never available.

How so? Miller will be 30 as a UFA, Kadri turns 32 in October and has 1 year at ppg. Miller has better stats over 3 years to Kadri. Kadri's contract could be what they look at same as Zibanejad and Forsberg etc
