I stayed off these boards and Twitter for the last 5 hrs or so, so i can come here to see some good news that Tavares has made his decision. Still nothing but old dry recycled speculation. C'mon, man! Now he's just being selfish.... Or is it me? Ugh

Agreed on the amount of waffling. I’ve always held a view of; Expect the worst and hope for the best. If he doesn’t sign here, it won’t be a surprise to me because the Sharks have historically not gotten the UFA’s to sign.

It’s a very good sign to see the Sharks here in the final hours being a viable option. Hopefully it’s a start of UFA’s giving the organization a closer look.

The Sharks don't really get involved in chasing UFA's unless they are elite players.

He's not Bob McKenzie but he's generally more accurate than most Toronto guys. Doesn't sound good for team teal but who knows, DW may up the offer or he could be wrong.

He works in Toronto but he is the editor in chief of the Athletic and it’s coverage of the NHL and their coverage of sports in Toronto. So his position as editor in chief of the Athletic’s NHL coverage doesn’t mean he’s calling it for Toronto. It just means that they will be able to confirm something soon.

Mirtle's legit. But he also runs the Athletic which has a bunch of people all over the map and a lot of beat guys with sources, so it wouldn't surprise me that he'd have a scoop on him signing anywhere.

Hadn't even considered that. He may be referring to to confirming that JT is leaving the Islanders, or hasn't signed an 8 year extension, or even that he is signing with another team. That said Mirtle is traditionally a Leafs guy, where more of his sources are located and he has history.
