We'll see Craig probably twice more. Once this week and then once in our 4-in-5 closing......maybe he gets one midweek next week too.

I kind of see it like this with 10 games left:

Anderson, UPL and Comrie all get 2 or 3 starts. Levi gets 1 or 2.
I think we will see Anderson between 0-1 more times.

The idea percolating in the old noggin:

You offersheet Swayman this summer. 1st and a 3rd range, something they can't match. 3 year deal.

If/When Levi is ready to be a starter, you move Swayman. Recoup your investment. Worst case scenario, he struggles a bit, he will still return a 2nd round pick.

Next year's goalie tandem:

2023-24
Swayman/the better of Comrie/UPL

2024-25
Swayman/Levi

25-26:
Levi/Veteran Backup.

And if Levi is never ready to be a starter....you simply extend Swayman. Either way, you have a starter grade goalie in your org for the foreseeable future. And you stick it to Boston. Win/Win.

It won't happen, but I wonder if a one year deal in the $5.5-6M range, ala the Kotkaniemi OS, might be an even better approach?

A nice start at payback for the Hall/Ullmark hosings we've endured from them recently. Let's hope Adams has a hair in his dick about both of those debacles.

You'd wonder how the Bruins would (could?) retaliate. I don't see us being under any kind of cap constraints for the next five years.

That deal was about overpaying for 1 year and extending him long term for less (which they did).

I have no interest in signing Swayman to a 8 year extension later.

This is about getting a quality starting goalie that we could potentially extend long term if Levi's development never happens. If it does, we simply flip Swayman and recoup the assets from the offersheet.

or if Swayman ends up being a franchise goalie, we can flip Levi.

Either way, we have a starter for next year and beyond solved.

I like the idea of boning the Bruins in the process. Do it, KA!

Offer sheets are spoken lots about but rarely materialise...

If it was even an option - I'd want Dahlin / Power locked up long term before it happened to prevent any comeback...

You get more flexibility and potentially more in an eventual trade if you do not walk him to UFA with a 3 year deal.

Might add Quinn to that list.
It's not possible to lock up Quinn this offseaaon....

In reality it has next to zero chance of happening - so I'm not worried either way.

Adams has more than enough trade ammo to get a clear starting goalie & an established top 4D in more conventional ways. He doesn't need to play games with offer sheets.

Just for the record, last offseason the 1st + 3rd range was 4.2-6.3M.

I know you're not advocating for it per se............

But Swayman isn't the guy to use our 1st rounder on. He COULD be good....or not. Being behind that Boston defense is certainly a large factor.

My particular interest is to use swayman as a potential bridge to Levi.

Sign him to a 2 year (not 3 as earlier as I didn’t realize 3 walked him to UFA) deal. Year 1 he takes most of the starts with one of Comrie/UPL. Assuming Levi Has a strong AHL year, he would split starts with swayman in year 2. Then you have to make a decision on what to do with him. To get two years of even average goaltending is worth a 1st alone this point. The potential for it to be great goaltending is worth the extra 3rd.

If Levi is ready after year 2, great, move Swayman on and recoup your draft picks. If Levi has struggled or needs more time or is simply a bust, extend swayman to a long term team adjusted for his performance. If Swayman has bombed, move him along to a team that thinks they can fix him and recoup your picks.

I'm not sure if this has been posted.

Sounds like they will try to get Craig Anderson into one last NHL game if it doesn't impact their playoff race.

not sure why this matters, the guy is a decent goaltender (if he is healthy)

It's clear from Granato that Levi is the starter and likely UPL is the backup down the stretch

Now is not the time for feelings. The only thing that matters now is winning and getting into the playoffs

Anderson will get a game if we have clinched or are eliminated

The fact that granato considered playing levi back to back, then went upl over comrie
I doubt meatballs wants it in Levi's head that he's our chance/hope at the playoffs this year. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. Tough decision for him.

Next year, we had BETTER bring in a legit NHL goalie. Give Levi a chance to earn the net in camp of course. Maybe we have a split net or something. I Levi does not earn it, then off to the AHL next year.

The sole exception, of course, is if Levi goes full Dryden and wins the Conn Smythe this year. Then of course, he earned the net for next year
