The simple solution remains sending Luukkonen back down to continue working on his game. Rebound control and high glove are things we've seen that NHL teams have exploited. The next simplest solution would be to clutter up the practice net with three tenders and send someone like Fitzgerald down who seems like the least likely to be claimed (bad underlying defensive metrics, no advanced offensive game in his history at other levels). Everything after those two options is muddier.
I agree but I don’t see UPL being sent anywhere so I think they might have to go with door #2.

Absolutely.. no way they mess w his confidence . You have what 12 games in however days.. Let the goalies battle it out for the next 3 games til they activate jokiharu. Fitz goes down and it's really up to talking to the team . If Vinny is glue like Anderson , then one of the kids goes down for a week, whichever is nicked up the most. Speculation on this without knowing relationships and individual confidence and possible destruction of progress made in development .
I know that both upl and comrie didn't like the ahl so .. We'll find out soon enough who's out as it seems like a tight group..
this is most likely what happens, we shall see
Jost certainly complicated this ..

I have zero problem with sending UPL down for some games, but this board would erupt. He gave up 5 goals yesterday and is being treated like the #2 star of the game. Our goaltending bar is very low right now.

That said, I have no issue with him staying up. JJP, Quinn, Krebs have not given any more reason to be up here than UPL, so they should all be possible send downs until a trade or injury changes it.

To me sending Fitz, Bryson, or Clague thru waivers when you do not have to, is potentially bad asset management.

UPL is now 9-3-1, can anyone work up GA/%/GE from his last 5/10 ?
Just a little more consistantcy in the 3rd period and help in front of him needed.

waive Fitz

UPL #1. If he struggles, send him down to Rochester
Comrie #2. If he struggles, move Anderson up the pecking order
Andy #3. He is a big boy enjoying semi retirement with a nice paycheck on an NHL team

Like Chain said, the problem is you have no extra defensman.
We have 2 extra forwards, would prefer to send one of those down.

Would rather move Krebs up to the Cozens line. JJP is not producing at a level where we cannot send him back, though I'd rather we send Fitz, Asplund, or Hino back
You get the waivers vs no waivers thing yes?

We could also send Joker down for a conditioning stint no?
He is your 4th best dman. If you get him back you are playing him, not sending him to Rochester instead of Quinn, JJP, Krebs, or UPL.

A D-man has to go when Jokiharju comes back one way or another. I can't see sending Clague back down when he's clearly been better than Bryson. So that means Bryson or Fitzgerald need to be traded for that magical better D-man, or waived to Rochester. I actually don't care which player gets waived, but Bryson might be less likely to get claimed with his 2 yr deal and higher cap hit. Teams at the front of the claims line are tanking for Bedard and saving cap. Teams at the end of the line don't have cap space. Just my opinion but whatever.

As for three goalies, UPL seems to be getting some great experience right now and developing at the same time. He might be best off in Buffalo, and the team seems to be getting good mojo off him in net. It might be a bit of a blow to team morale to send him back. Again just my opinion. If he's worth keeping right now, I really don't see a problem with rotating Quinn and Peterka in and out of Rochester. Neither one is playing lights out lately and the schedule probably makes it worth it to rotate Asplund and Hino in and out with those two. I just don't see the problem, as it's the safest route and should seemingly have some level of benefit (rest).

Edit - since Dec 1st Quinn has 6 pts and Peterka has 5. It's not a big deal to rotate them out with Asplund and Hino.

they're at most worth a 6th or a 7th. Wouldn't lose sleep if we lose them

I could see Quinn right now but not JJ and certainly not Krebs.

Krebs?????

IKR. No way is he the choice. He is a major factor in how well that grind line is grinding.

Yep, watched every minute. He made some very good saves. What is your point? He still let in 5. Noone lets in 5 and is heralded as great. Your making my point for me, which is that as Sabres fans we have lowered the goaltending bar so low that any kind of solid performance looks spectacular to us.

If you think he just made "very good saves" you didn't watch,
