I agree with most of what you have posted. I don't think Olofsson is a lock to get traded. I think Donnie values him more than we do.

I also don't think Asplund or Hino get claimed. Every team has theirs.

Clague is too good right now to take out of the line up. His corsi numbers alongside Power are very impressive.
I'd bet money Asplund would get claimed

I don't think Hino gets claimed. His salary is prohibitive even if a team has roster space. I think Asplund gets claimed.

Theres close to a 0% chance Comrie ever gets waived this season. They identified him as a cheap option with upside after putting in development years to hopefully be at least a 1b for the next 2 seasons. You don't bring in a UFA and say he's got a shot here to cut bait after a few months, its a bad look, and if he's claimed? then what? An injury to UPL leaves BUF with Andy & Subban? Not happening.

He's played 11 games, they can figure out the UPL thruway shuttle if/when that time comes.

Try to trade Hinostroza, Bryson and/or Fitzgerald for a mid rd pick. Barring a trade, waive Fitzgerald to make room for Jokiharju. To keep three goalies, rotate a couple waiver exempt FWs or waive Hinostroza if no trade takers. If/when UPL cools down, waive him and bring back Hinostroza if he cleared.

Catching up on this thread...I think most every poster was fine with 5x5 for Ullmark and not 6x6. If we got 6x6 there would have been a lot of discontent. I think Ullmark was ready to move on and he did, he has always seemed like a thoughtful and intellectual type. He sure picked a good team to go to and I am glad it worked out for him. I always liked his interviews.

The person whose performance least deserves reward is Comrie. Who this plan site in the pressbox 2/3 games at minimum. At the cost of either waiving an asset or sending down a player who shouldn’t be sent down.

all so we can carry one less replacement during a period where we play every other day for a month,

who are you sending down or waiving to give Comrie his seat in the pressbox? Fitz gets you Joker back…not two people

I hear you. UPL and Anderson cant really go any where. But didn’t comrie play good when our defense instant early in the season? And then play like crap when our other goalies were playing like crap as well (behind a crap defense). I could be mistaken on that though.

I don’t think they Sabres can do anything but carry three goalies.

Comrie played through most of the 8 game skid, until the 7th loss when he got hurt against Ottawa. UPL didn't play until the last loss of that stretch, at Toronto. UPL looked ordinary for a bit while the team played crappy defense for a few more games. Then UPL got settled in and played great at the same time the team finally stopped giving up multiple odd-mans and breakaways every night.

Really? Every team has a winger that got Selke votes?

Asplund gets claimed by every contender looking for a bottom 6 option.
He played I think twice in the month of December on a team outside the playoff picture currently. He doesn’t put up enough consistent offense.

Maybe he would get claimed but i wouldn’t be crushed if he was.

Candidly I would like to play him over Olofsson right now.

During the 8 game skid, how many regular NHL defensemen were playing each night ?

some of the Rochester observers thought he needed to make a extra save or two last night
we will see what he's got soon, I'm sure, Im all for giving him another chance

I'll say it again. 3 goalie and send down Quinn or JJ when UPL starts.

Ok looking Comrie goals against before the injury. Some screenshots:

11/16 vs Ottawa. 1 maybe he could have. 2nd tkachuk is left alone in front. Maybe comrie could have been tighter to the net, I dont know.

11/10 vs Vegas. 1st goal, big rebound on the PP. 2nd, 2 on 1. 3rd, breakaway,. 4th, Bryson deflection. 5th rebound right to eichel. 6th, essentially a breakaway.

11/8 vs Arizona. First goal had 2 coyotes in front of the net. 2nd was a cozens own goal. 3rd was another deflection off of cozens

11/5 vs Tampa. 1st goal should have saved. 2nd goal (photo) Point left wide open in front. 3rd goal (photo) again wide open in front. Goal 4 probably should have had. He also saved a 2v1 and breakaway this game, both by kucherov.

11/2 vs Pens 1st goal. 2 on 1. Goal 2, another 2 on 1. Goal 3, breakaway.

So I count 5 of 18 which weren't deflections off our own players or sequences in which the scorer didn't have a defender between him and comrie. I guess without knowing what normal numbers are, maybe there isn't much that can be drawn from it, but it was definitely a lot I have a hard time pinning on him.

Great post. Kind of terrifying looking at all those pictures.

Adams has said he wants UPL to play (alot)

That isn't going to happen with a 3 headed goalie

UPL probably doesn't 'deserve' to get sent down, but he is the only goalie that is waiver eligible
Go ahead, risk the season for Eric Friggen Comrie, all so we can save someone who may be able to get a 5th or a 6th at the deadline.

If you think a 5th or a 6th round pick is worth missing the playoffs over, I'm not sure what to say
