I have a hard time believing that you can let 7 in and not have had a remote chance at any of them, but hey sounds like thats NU hockey. Would be interested to see some highlights

Edit: All here for anyone interested https://twitter.com/HarvardMHockey
I wouldn't say he had no chance on all of them, but Harvard did have a boatload of tough plays to stop in their 8 goals including 2 deflection goals and a bunch of cross-slotline and below the GL to above the GL plays that are hard on goalies.

Here are three interesting goalie articles that I came across today.

D needs to be better in front of UPL. He faced close to 10 shots where he is not expected to make the save tonight. Stopped 7 of them. Only the one bad goal on the 3rd where he didn't control the rebound

For some reason, UPL is winning. Maybe he can be this year's version of 2011 Enroth and unexpectedly lead us to the playoffs

Can't we just do a paper demotion with Quinn or JJ whenever it's UPL turn to start? Send UPL down when he isn't starting? That way Asplund and/or Vinny can get some games in?

Duffer just said that UPL is tracking the puck well right now and Bales believes he has just calmed down.

Can you imagine if we would have just signed Ullmark?

Was shocked to see the difference of save % and goals against between Boston's 2 goalie's.

We faced Swayman I believe.

It's crazy how little support UPL is getting defensively. He's at the top of the league for expected goals against a game at just under 4 per game. More than the Arizona and Anaheim goalies. All three of the Sabres goalies are at the bottom of the league for percentage of shot attempts blocked by teammates. You can't put in x goalie from another team and expect that he'd be performing the same behind this team. The Sabre skaters do their goalies no favors.

You can't even put Swayman on Boston and expect nearly the same results as Ullmark.

Goaltending: it's a good idea
Boston agrees

Where would they be with Jeremy Swayman as their number 1? The difference in Save % and Goals against is astounding.

They would probably be good, but not nearly the front runner they are now!

He was 26 - 10 & 2 last year with a 917 Save %
He struggled for long stretches last season.

His Save% was sub-.900 in the months of November, January, and February.

And Swayman played in the last 5 games vs Carolina after Ullmark did not look good in loses in Games 1 & 2.

Carolina is a great hockey team

I'd love for the Sabres to sign a struggling goaltender like Ullmark.

So, watching the World Juniors, I keep thinking - do we attempt to sign Suchanek? Kid was in our rookie camp, seems very tight with Kulich, and has been lights out for two straight World Juniors.

If we sign him, then I'd have to assume that we probably lose Portillo for good.

We know next year in Buffalo we're running UPL/Comrie. Rochester would hopefully be Levi/Subban. If Portillo does sign, he'd still probably be in Cincy, unless he outplays Levi in camp, then it's Portillo in Roch and Levi in Cincy. Being in Cincy is no big deal - guys have to start and play a lot somewhere. I suppose we could still have Suchanek in juniors for one more year.

I just can't get past wanting to sign Suchanek, especially if we have an inside advantage to getting him.
