If after Comrie's contitioning stint both him and the Uberpecker still look great, what you do is you talk to Anderson and you give him choices:

You bailed us out big time so we won't forget that, rest assured. What is it you want right now? Another shot on a playoff team? Trade him for future considerations to wherever he wants to go.

A nice off ice position within the org? Let him retire and he's got it.

And then Subban becomes the #3 which is bad.

I dont think he ever asks to be waived, I think the only possibility is sending him to a playoff team that needs a competent number 2. I mentioned this last week and I think people thought I was saying just move him, but it would have to be something he wanted.

4 games is still 4 games, and it get's more difficult because its not just sending someone down, but potentially waiving another guy to keep him, which seems like a mistake. At the end of the day I guess it all depends on everyones interpretation of their skill, and personally I don't think there's a ton between UPL and comrie, and don't want to lose comrie.

I mean, lets say we waive comrie, UPL stays up and struggles, then Anderson retires. We're back to and inconsistent UPL and whatever the heck Levi's timeline is. Not remotely the situation I want to be in next year
The answer is somewhere in between. Whether we roll with 3 goalies for a little bit, Anderson steps aside in some aspect. Im sure there has been internal debate now for a couple weeks.

But if we play "what ifs" .. What if we demote Luu only to lose a couple and drop out of the race? That'll be pretty big hit on the team.

Comrie was brought in to bridge the gap until Luu and/or Levi are ready. I think its obvious by his contract. Waiving Comrie or Anderson would be a foolish

We can easily waive Fitz or send Clague down. They can still travel with the team.
UPL needs as many games as possible, Anderson needs to rest a lot. I say ride UPL until the conditioning stint for Comrie is over.

Then play Anderson/Comrie. If Comrie isn't looking like a starter he'll be the 3rd goalie the rest of the season.

Wait. People are seriously talking about trading/waiving Anderson...to make room for Comrie.

You waive Comrie and hope someone claims him. He is not good. The team getting and doing better coincided not just with Samuelsson but Comrie being out.

Said this on a different thread but you either carry all 3 goalies or send UPL to Roch... Anything outside of that is not an option Adams is going to take.
Exactly this, young guys understand the logistics around it, even if they don't like it. Boston had to do it last year with Swayman, and Dallas did it with Oettinger.

I think the Sabres will keep Comrie off the roster until they get back from the road trip, then move one of their other injured players to IR. They have a home stand coming up after Tuesday. Injury recalls are right down the road.

“LTIR” Conditioning Loan

This loan is just for players who is “on the Bona Fide Long-Term Inujry/Illness Exception” which is the thing we all call LTIR. ………………..this loan is for a player who has been out of playing action for 10 games and 24 days (the LTIR minimums).

The player must consent to this loan, and he is paid like he’s in the NHL still. While on this loan, the player remains on LTIR.

The loan lasts for up to six days and three games. So either maximum may trigger the end of the loan. This loan is only to determine a player’s fitness to return off of LTIR. Teams are allowed to ask for an extension of two more games, and that happens often.

—————————————————————————

By the end of the week the conditioning stint is over. Even with a two game extension, it will be over next weekend.

Sixteen games in twenty-nine days started yesterday.

UPL - 7
Comrie - 5 (after conditioning in Roch for a week)
Anderson - 4

No one gets ridden into the ground. Further decisions to be made around Groundhog Day.
