I think it's lack of confidence in the ownership group and the huge task they have in front of them..... A task they (as well as Gary Bettman) created. The latter should have never said Glendale was not sustainable.

5 days ago we had the President of the organization say that it didn't matter what anyone said, they were going to get the arena built, win the auction, and we were going to do it together, that AM was committed to doing this, and that they were going to do their damnedest to keep the team here.

This is what I’m confused about as well. This really is quite the 180 from 5 days ago. Unless this proposal from the NHL was officially tabled to Meruelo in the past couple days, about him being able to sell, use the money to help pay for the land auction and build the ED, and be given a guarantee that he’ll be given a new team when it’s done. This had to have just come about in the past couple of days because the abrupt about face from literally 5 days ago is just baffling.

How is he 90-95% sure in any meaningful way? He's hearing details about a contingency plan and he's inserting his own speculation that it's going to go through?

AM needs to head over to Glendale and do some sucking.

My understanding that it will all be done with private money with no help from any level of government?(which I like) How rich is the Arizona Owner or his partners? Modern arenas are costing between 800mill to 1 bill.

That's how you have to do it in some places though, especially recently and looks like it'll be continuing as billionaires keep getting richer.

Why is Meruelo being labeled a grifter? Isn't it basically the NHL kind of forcing him to sell, if that's what ends up happening? It all sounds to me like he wants to keep going, but is getting pressure to sell.

I don’t have a stake in this as I am in Canada, but sportsnet and TSN spread stories loud and often and usually get facts wrong.

My only worry is if they do move they don’t bring BA and the scouting department with them .. the team is being built right and would hate to see them throw that away.

As a I listen to this Elliot basically says Frank is his source..

Been waiting to post to let everything settle.
It all sucks. So much. I'm relieved the headache will be over. I'm relieved that the constant fear of relocating will be gone. And honestly the Tempe vote felt way worse.

This was the lame duck season. We just didn't know it. Good on the NHL for not giving away any clues or hints. There's no way this wasnt in discussion since the start of the season.

I want to see this rebuild through. Invested too much into BA and crew. I'll be posting in the SLC Sting boards. If BA and crew don't follow I'll be a full time Ice Cats fan. If the team finds success but then struggles to be a competitor because nobody wants to go to SLC then I'll bail too.

Coyotes 2.0 will need to be done right to make me interested. And that's so far down the line I don't know what that would need to look like. Maybe I won't even be in AZ at that point.

It's been a fun run and I've made friends because of this team and this dumb hockey board (even you Jakey ).

I don't think Arizona fans are interested in watching the Roadrunners continue to develop players for the team they lost to Utah. At least I wouldn't. More of a bad reminder than appeasing to me.
