Nothing groundbreaking, but I wouldn’t be so sure of both Sennecke and Iginla going top-10. If they did, then one of the D at least plus Catton would have to pop loose, which seems insane to me.

To me, the most likely scenario is
1: Celebrini
2-5: Levshunov, Demidov, Silayev, Lindstrom in some order
6-8: Dickinson, Parekh, Buium in some order (all those teams need D)
9-13: Iginla, Sennecke, Catton, Yakemchuk, Helenius in some order

Someone has to drop out of the top-10.
For sure, however in your lineup there, we are choosing between the forwards in that article plus Solberg/Jiricek/a bigger reach like Emery or Hage or Chernyshov.

Yup, agreed. Like I said unless someone from the top-13 drops I think the choice is realistically going to be between MBN/Solberg/Jiricek. I wouldn’t hate Chernyshov but I wouldn’t be especially excited about him.

If the choice was those four I’d be working the phones to move back 3-4 spots, add a pick, and take whomever is left over. All four of those guys, IMO, would be meh at 14 and if we have to have one of them it’d be nice to pick up another asset.

Yeah, I’m sorta feeling like 14 is not the place to be unless someone bites on Eiserman before us. There’s some noise and Buffalo and Philly like him, so hopefully that’s true. If the first 13 picks play out as I expect, I would be willing to drop as low as 16.

I posted this to Celebrini's thread too, but we get these creepy little videos of combine tests starting today. Macklin looks dense (thicc even) for a 17 year old.

Yeah, that video feels illegal to watch. Honestly the whole idea of the combine being public is a little icky. Forcing a bunch of teenagers to wear skin-tight shirts and get measured in front of a bunch of middle-aged men seems a little gross to me, as normalized as it is.

I know how badly the Sharks need to add quality dmen to their pipeline but I really want MBN at #14 (barring someone sliding to them).

If Grier picks MBN at #14 I’ll probably be the loudest person at the Sphere in that moment.

I would be totally fine with MBN at 14, and I would be open to Solberg or Jiricek, it just wouldn’t be exciting to me personally.

Off Topic, but, reminds me of the old NFL combine commentary that is well explored here. Pretty entertaining. No longer happens publicly, which maybe none of these should be either as you say.

I think I feel about an 8 about Solberg or MBN and about a 7 about Jiricek. Still, any of these players probably immediately compete with Musty for their spot in our prospect pool so we also might be undervaluing it at this point. Fans of teams at 19-20+ would be stoked about MBN or Solberg, seemingly.

Oh yeah they’re definitely good prospects and I think would be in the conversation with Musty and Mukhamadullin as far as caliber of prospect, it’s just that I would be disappointed to miss on a higher caliber of prospect more than any real reflection on those guys.

I think an underrated aspect of Celebrini is that his dad is one of the sports medicine and sports science coaches in the world. He will get the max out of the physical limitations of his body.

I want us to somehow get Buium so badly.. it’s not going to happen — I just don’t see an available trade to be had — but man, I’d kill for that kid.

Also, seeing Macklin talk about Smith, I have to reiterate how f***ing exciting it’s going to be to see two players of that skill level on the Sharks…

Also, also: I completely agree the combine is icky, and how people generally talk about these kids and their bodies is pretty uncomfortable.

I was born in the darkness, molded by it. I didn't see my first goal until I was already playing my 40th game, by then it was nothing to me but bustville!

Only thought on the combine for me is, it shouldn’t feel “icky” or weird or anything like that lol. I respect everyone’s opinions on it but cmon..You think they’re gonna test out better in baggy shirts and sweat pants? Idk. As someone who went to camps and played sports growing up, I can’t guarantee NO ONE is thinking perverted stuff, but more than likely, they’re not. Just my thought. Celebrini and Smith are gonna be amazing. At 14, it’s a toss up for me. It was always just icing on the cake so if it’s someone we don’t expect, I’m just happy we got the best player in the draft at the top.

We’re not saying anything weird is going on, just that the concept is a bit icky. Having a bunch of middle-aged men closely examining the bodies of 17-18 year old kids just feels gross, even though there isn’t anything gross explicitly going on and there is a legitimate purpose to it.

I didn’t think it was weird when I was younger, but the older I get the more it feels weird. Idk, just my opinion.

send smith to macklins house stat
Speaking of, would macklin living at home be weird or even accepted? Like, is there precedent for this? I haven't thought too hard but Fox was 21 when he started in NY and I don't think he lived at home, and I don't think Faber did either.

Definitely not weird, he’s literally just about to turn 18 in a week. I feel like we’ve seen parents of teenage NHLers come out and live with them for their roomie seasons.

I’m not worried about Smith’s physique. After the transformation I saw from Eklund after one off season, I’m sold on the fact these guys can bulk up when they want/need to.

Eklund also working out with Zetterlund this summer who's not small at 5'11 but he's god damn stacked for his frame haha. Building a nice core of young guys who work hard
