The chairman of Women in Football Australia, Bonita Mersiades, has called out the “hypocrisy” of such a deal.

Mersiades told The Athletic: “The proposed Visit Saudi sponsorship of the Women’s World Cup is yet another example of FIFA’s and world football’s hypocrisy when it comes to their stated values versus where the money comes from.

“On the one hand, they have a policy which espouses respect for women and LGBTQI rights, amongst others, and on the other hand, they have no compunction in accepting big sponsorship dollars from an organisation representing a nation that neither shares those values nor respects those rights.

“It points to a culture in world football that is no different, and is arguably worse, than it was a decade ago. It will only change if those with alternative, genuine power and influence say ‘enough is enough’, and get together and force change.”

Reactions: Jack Straw
Hoping CL football at United will convince her to re-sign.
And I'm hoping she nonetheless comes to Arsenal. That said, she was needed more for this season with Mead and Miedema out with knee injuries than she might when they get back, assuming they get back full strength.

I wonder how the Canada team performs at the She Believes Cup. Their hearts may not be all in with all the crap going on behind the scenes.

Canada was either going to come out guns blazing or come out really flat which ended up being the latter. But after the first 10-15 minutes it was pretty even. Both sides had good chances that were saved. US still lacking a killer instinct sometimes.

More French players have followed Renard. Between this and the ongoing battle in Canada, it sours the anticipation for the World Cup imo.

And Arsenal marches on! Will face the winner of Wolfsburg and PSG. Wolfsburg won the first leg in Paris.
