Can the fans of the teams who miss out please post angrily about it for several pages.

Some suggestions

Matt Gilroy 2.0
The team he signed with stinks
Hobey Baker winners never do anything good
We did not really want him anyway
I hope he busts
I am not jealous
How do you make a Voodoo doll?
I am going to boo him every time he plays here

Here, lets get this out there - http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Voodoo-Doll

I think Vesey's point totals (i.e. the key to his 2nd contract) would be much better with Chicago than NYR:

Vesey-Hayes-Bucnevich

versus

Vesey-Toew-Kane (or Vesey-Anisimov-Kane)

Vesey is an LW.

The Rangers LWs are Nash/Zuccarello (only one of them, the other will be RW), Kreider, Grabner, Jensen/Hrivik/Glass.

In other words, the Rangers have a big gaping hole at 3LW, which is perfect for Vesey.

And AV's toughness on rookies is overblown. Yeah, he believes in tough love, but if you perform, you play.

Pavel Buchnevich says Hi

They could still trade Nash. In fact, I kind of expect Nash and Glass to be traded in the event that Vesey signs here. The top LW would be:

Kreider
Vesey
Buchnevich

Depends on how you look it at. Much less likelihood of flopping in a 3rd line role. Allows you to grow. Zuccarello and/or Nash will age out anyway.

If he's good enough to play 1LW on the Hawks, he's good enough to play in the top-6 of the Rangers anyway. I don't think anyone is pitching specific lines so much as there being an open LW slot.

Also Rangers can push being line mates with his bff Hayes.

I really hate projected line up posts though in general. Let's find out who he has chemistry with in training camp (or god forbid let him pick a team first) before saying where or who he slots in with. It's absurd.

Yup...and still a guy like Kevin Hayes chose the crap Rangers over your mighty club. I doubt Vesey signs with NY, but the BS you guys put out is silly...

Anyone really think that Vesey told the Isles which teams he's considering?

No doubt Garth Snow leaks information to Staple. Snow also probably talks with other GMs daily. So if Vesey's camp let all teams but CHI and NYR that they are out, those GMs might have spoken to confirm, Snow would then know, and could then inform Staple.

Not saying that's what happen, but it's a lot more possible than the blank & white situation you describe above.

From what aspect? It's Manhattan. For many kids, you can't beat Manhattan. It's the ultimate.

And for some, playing for an Original Six is important.

There's always that, for sure.

I was thinking in terms of connections to his hometown, opportunity (line-up and production-wise), and chances of Cup success over the next few years.

It's a lot to ask...but I'd have to try Vesey with Toews and Hossa if I am Chicago. I would be in no rush to break up Panarin-Anisimov-Kane at all.

This should get fun. I can't wait to see the "rich get richer" posts if the Hawks actually do land him.

In all seriousness, if his decision is between the Hawks or the Rangers, I would imagine he's coming to the Hawks. I think the allure of instantly being slotted into a top 6 role with either Toews or Kane on your line is a pretty nice thing to see as a younger guy just out of college.

At the same time his geographic security would be much better anywhere but Chicago

That's just your opinion. I know many people who commute from Hoboken every day and have never complained about the 2 minute train ride

Its longer than 2 minutes, but your point is solid. Hoboken to Christopher St is 10 minutes. Thats the first PATH stop in the city.

Devils haven't had a pick under 5th since 2011, their first time doing that in 20 years. But sure, they continually are tanking down to top 5 picks in order to get back to glory  Do a little research next time

..and even then they actually would have been picking around 8 in 2011 if not for winning the lottery.

Are we really bringing back the argument about which team has better living arrangements in the NYC metro area?

That is not the most important thing for Vesey to decide on...

TBH after reading all the back and forth about all the reasons this kid should choose one team over the other, I really think it comes down to two things for him more than anything else...

1 - playing time
2 - teammates

It's 2016...almost any big city, especially the ones on his short list (Toronto, Boston, NYC - all 3 teams, and Chicago) has its pros and cons. You can sit here and nitpick all you want. But as a pro athlete making that much money, any city can be your playground or your worst nightmare. If the reports are true about Chicago vs. NYR at this point (or even if not and he's still considering every team), then I think playing time and teammates will have the heaviest impact on his decision. Just my opinion...

Uhh...pretty sure he means the cap space to sign Vesey to a 2nd contract in 2 years when he is an RFA.

Pretty much any team in the league can afford a rookie ELC, that's not what he meant.

But the Penguins already have $46 million in cap space tied up in only 7 players for the 2018-19 season when Vesey will need a raise.

That's more than any other team on his list, aside from Chicago.

Zero concerns about that. Kunitz will be gone, MAF will almost certainly be gone and other than Murray, Bonino, Dumoulin and perhaps Daley, PIT has no major players needing new contracts. Not to mention that they have a lot of young guys (both those from last year and another group right on the verge) kicking around who will be very cheap. Which means PIT is actually in pretty good shape cap wise going forward. They'll still be right at the cap, but then that's the nature of having a contending team.

We're all overlooking just how many Pokestops Manhattan has. Central Park is a constant source of lures. If Vesey is trying to be the very best, like no one ever was, he'll go to the Rangers.
