I doubt he will choose NY, but if he did i would assume it's to join a decent core of young forwards that are his age.

Stepan
Kreider
Miller
Hayes
Zibanejad
Buchnevich
Lindberg

All around his age sets up a competitive forward group that still has room for him, also close to his home in Boston. But like I said there are better fits for him. If I was in his shoes I would choose either Buffalo or Toronto.

Ya I like NYR's depth, just missing the star power IMO now that Nash is fading...if he finds it again, maybe not.

If I was Vesey, making a decision for the money, I go Pittsburgh because they have 2 elite centers who inflate winger stats and not enough top 6 depth

Most Bostoners dislike New York sports teams, not NYC itself. Same vice versa. If there is a rivalry, it's a sibling one and not serious animosity.

I've lived in both. I now live elsewhere. Trust me when I tell you that, the people in NY and Boston are basically the same.

Ya, I'm sure the feud could be overlooked or is non-existent outside of the Yankees-Sox rivalry, I just don't think that Vesey would pick the Rangers simply to be in NY which is what the poster I was referring to was insinuating

Ya I didn't mean to trash the Rangers, that Beacon guy's posts were just arrogant with no support.

I think the Rangers need a core/star forward to come from somewhere, I love the Zibanejad pickup but I don't think he'll quite get to the level of an elite center. If you can find a superstar-upside forward prospect somewhere, my opinion of the Rangers changes quickly. Vesey I don't think is on that level either, I think his ceiling is around being the worst player on a good team's first line...still good, just not "the guy"

When you're the world's #2 ranked professional kite surfer, you need a serious handle.

Fair enough points, can't argue that.

Also par for the course on the bolded.

Can't believe your a sous chef at a high end restaurant too, how do you have time for all that?

Well, what I'm saying is that there is no feud. It's a myth.

If Vesey chooses NY, simply being in NY is going to be a factor in the decision. Not the only factor and maybe not the biggest factor, but it will be a factor.

Could Pitt resign him in 2 years if in fact he does well? My guess is he'd prefer a larger contract from whatever team he goes to. Not that I'm lobbying for my own team because I don't care that much, but the Devils are definitely in a good position to give him a nice increase on that second contract if he can earn it.

Chicago is well on their way down, down, down. NYR have no future. NYI is average. Pitt has pros and cons. Detroit is not a good team.

Boston already completed the decline, all the way down to a playoff contender. They've clearly leveled off to anyone following the team and will begin improving as prospects fill in.

The isles are average? Boston is what's average. Bergeron is your only relevant player.

Good to know, I did actually think there was some anti-the-other sentiment from both sides, especially Bostoners

If I'm making the decision for money, I would worry about performance on the ELC and not so much about the next contract. If he Gilroy's his ELC he may not get another shot, but if he performs on the ELC he'll get paid from someone next time around

The NY - Boston feud is really baseball and Jets Patriots. The Rangers Bruins rivalry is pretty much dead

Both of those bolded teams have brand-spanking new arenas, billionaire owners and sick cable deals. Better check your facts dude, neither is going anywhere. Well, maybe the Islanders move an hour or two away in a few years.

The Isles arena is awful for hockey. From one end, if you sit behind the goalie, whether low or high, you can't see anything below the blue line.

I would imagine all teams courting him have asked themselves that question.

Two years from now is a long time away. Lots of time for Vesey to prove himself for either a large contract or a small one.

But GMs are probably thinking about it.

Well Pittsburgh isn't one of the two teams out because GMJR said they are still in the running for Vesey after that report came out. I'm guessing Toronto and Buffalo.

If you're Pittsburgh, or anyone, and you sign the guy and he performs so well that you can't afford him; then you're pretty damn happy about it.

It's not like you're trading for him, if you get two solid productive years and he moves on, it's a definite win.

The isles were above average the last couple years, but I don't think that means much to Vesey. The Isles are nowhere near being a cup contender, and they probably regress this season after losing Okposo and Nielsen.

I thought the modern day feud would have been sports related, I think those often spill beyond the borders of sports like Boston and Montreal

Well as a life long Bostonian and older than most here, original 6, you have to go back decades to find overall heated rivals.

Far before Vesey was born and his parents were children.

Sox - Yanks is still pretty good. Patriots - Jets is now just so so since Ryan left.

Bruins - Rangers or Celtics - Knicks died 30 or 40 years ago.

So I think that aspect of things wouldnt even register with the kid. A New York area team would fit him well in being close to home but not distracted by home town things.

Hell, I can make it down there in just 3 hours on the Acela. Nice ride and has a bar.

The report that two teams are out was over an hour ago.

I'm guessing it's just an unfounded rumour.

We'll all know who he signs with soon enough.

I doubt we'll ever know which team was the runner-up.

I guess I should quit teasing my wife and daughters for getting all excited over The Bachelorette. Dumbest show ever, but we're pretty much following the same kind of thing here.
