I'm kind of surprised the Flyers didn't get the chance to meet him considering the location etc. Maybe they weren't interested?

"Hobey Baker winners before this Eichel and Gaudreau sucked" "Compares to X player and Y player stats, he's gonna bust"

There are so many different variables to NCAA hockey that people aren't understanding. This guy carried a bad Harvard team in a solid conference to the NCAA tournament. His team wasn't even beating up the bad teams in his conference and he had good games vs teams like Ferris State and Quinnipiac that had great teams. This guy is the real deal, and will be a solid NHLer. You don't need to score 60 points a year to carve out a solid career for yourself and I see this guy being a 40-60 point scorer in this league.

“I’ve said it all along that Boston is definitely on my list of teams that I’d like to talk to," said the North Reading native, who scored 24 goals and 46 points as a senior at Harvard last year while winning the Hobey Baker Award as the nation's top college player. "It’s a team that I’ve rooted for all my life, and it’s a team that I watched win the Stanley Cup in 2011.

“I was a huge Joe Thornton fan growing up. He wore No. 19. I wear No. 19. He was my favorite player. I got to know Torey Krug a little bit through playing with him at the world championships last year. So it would be really cool to play with Torey and put on the Bruins jersey. It’s the team that I’ve watched for my whole life.â€

Players do like to do their fan service to the media.

Doesn't mean anything for where they end up. It's about their career first and foremost.

No. The Schultz free agency had way more hype then this. Hayes was free agency was smaller than this.

maybe among oilers fans but im talking about league wide. It might have felt like winning the powerball for you but globally it was similar

Buffalo also has Sam Reinhart and Ryan O'Reilly.

It's criminal how many people forget about Reinhart or else severely underrate him.

Like Eichel, Reinhart was also a #2 overall pick. He was the top forward selected in his draft class. Reinhart finished 8th in rookie scoring, with an almost identical stat line to Dylan Larkin (who people talked about all year as a Calder contender).

Eichel/Reinhart can easily be our Toews/Kane combo.

And then there is also Alex Nylander who can also develop into something special.

Whoa whoa, slow down with that.

Anyways, to stay on topic, I hope Vesey comes to Buffalo.

Because Jimmy Vesey, he the god amongst man, can predict that.

Everyone gave Washington the benefit of the doubt because they lost to Pittsburgh. Everyone knew Pittsburgh was primed for a Cup run. But the Rangers lost to those same Penguins in one less game and they are on a downward trend.

Typical HF hypocripsy.

To be honest the Rangers got spanked by Pitt and either Lundqvist or the defense or both had a horrible series. I saw it with my own eyes.

The Leafs or Devils would be his best option if you take the location out of the equation. However, I think he ends up signing with the Bruins.

Rangers actually faired pretty well against the Pens at EV. When on the PK though...that was a struggle all season.

Lundqvist had two bad games.

He played 19 minutes of Game 1. Gave up a goal on a fluke bounce that was played horrendously by Staal right after getting his eye gouged by Staal. That was on AV it was obvious Lundqvist's eye was blowing up and he couldn't see and he was bound to let one in. One of AV's many screw ups not getting Raanta in there ASAP. But he only played 19 minutes so we can hardly count that towards anything judge-worthy.

He was spectacular in Game 2 stopping 29 of 31.

We lost Game 3 3-1 with Lundqvist stopping 28 of 30 and the Penguins getting an ENG.

We got blown out in Game's 4 and 5.

The Rangers have played so much hockey since 2012. Lundqvist in particular with a run to the gold medal game in the 2014 Olympics as well.

The rare long offseason should do good for everyone.

Will his talent turn him into a NHL superstar? I haven't heard much about this guy.

Super star? No. His ceiling is likely 35 goals/ 45 points with all stars aligning and it's more likely he'll become a 25 goal with a similar if not slightly higher assist output who can hopefully play responsible in all 3 zones and use his speed to generate chances

Maybe not, but it does add another round in the chamber for the Bruins. Vesey has always made the conscious choice to stay in the area when the opportunity to go elsewhere has arrived. Plus, Ted Donato ( his Harvard coach ) and Don Sweeney both have done the " stay in Harvard for 4 years and then play for the Bruins " approach ( albeit they were draft picks of the Bruins). That's not to say it'll happen and I know it's just as likely he'll sign elsewhere. But there's a lot of current flowing Boston's way with Vesey and it's strong. With Boston coming up last in the list of teams for him to talk to, they'll get the final word. There's a rumor ( among many ) that a lot will hinge on what Julien has to say, seeing as Vesey already knows Sweeney quite well and has a friendship with. One of Vesey's sticking points was feeling a comfort level with the GM and coach of the team he'll sign for.

Additional hour and half drive to Bean Town. I guess. I also believe from what I read that they have cap issues.

Hexy also is on record that he will not guarantee a College free agent ice time or a spot in the line-up, imagine that comes into play a bit as well.

Another false idea created by the media. Neither Vesey nor his agent, Peter Fish, have come out and said "we demand a top 6 spot and all you can eat PP time." What has been said, is that he will be looking at every opportunity and deciding which fits best for himself.

He "likely" doesn't become a 25 goal scorer

35 goals? I would have said 30 goals was best case scenario for him

I would consider Lucic a higher talent than what Vesey projects to be and he maxed out at 30 goals, and did it only once

I doubt most GMs are promising Vesey time (except mayeb Buffalo, their GM acts desperate at times [ie. Stamkos 12+])
