Rangers are going to do for Vesey what they did for Holik. Provide him with a doctored DVD showing vesey carrying the cup down the canyon of hero's.

I think Vesey made a huge mistake not signing with the Preds but that said, he is exercising his rights under the current CBA.

I understand the bitterness of Preds fans but some of that has gone over the top.

With everything I have read I can't see him NOT signing with the Bruins.

His boyhood team, from the area and even though they don't have the same group of prospects as Buffalo his dream can be realized now.

As a Leafs fan I'd love to get him here but the taxes he'll pay are more than he would in Mass. If he signs and gets the max of 2.5 million he pays $230,000 more in Toronto. With Rangers he'll pay $177,000 more, with Buffalo $71,000 more and Chicago he actually will pay $34,000 less.

But the lure of playing for the team he cheered for growing up is the driving force for why he decided to go to free agency......and really I can't blame him for that.

The rumours of Montreal are ridiculous, no way he signs there. He'd be paying almost a quarter million more in taxes.

Thanks for the insight and info, especially the taxes break down.

Boston actually has a very good group of prospects right now, Sweeney and his staff have done a great job the last two drafts

Nashville only has themselves to blame, they should have sent Mike Fisher, his wife and Florida Georgia Line to meet with him long ago.

The lightning are sending Kucherov to talk to him and I'm hearing he's telling him not to sign. Stay away from my money he said.

That bus left a long time ago.

His agents have specifically said that the Sabres are on the short list and will be one of the teams to discuss with this week.

Moreover they have said that the meetings with the Sabres have been very good, but that he had decided to test free agency no matter what - he wasn't going to free agency because he had decided against the Sabres.

Not saying he will pick the Sabres in the end, but they are definitely one of the teams in contention at this point.

He left Nashville for one thing and one thing only, to play for the team he loves. Nashville isn't exactly a booney land and is a very competitive hockey team.
The distance from Boston to Nashville is farther than London to Rome!

And, no, he never "left" Nashville because he never lived in Nashville.

He was drafted by that franchise and chose the college route and years later is entitled to pick his own franchise, thank you very much.

And he's likely to pick one in the Northeast over one below Kentucky, far south of the Dixie line of the U.S. South. To someone from the Northeast,... Tennessee is the boonies.

Something is better than nothing. It's better to leave an offer on the table if you can, just in case all other options "go South", so to speak.;)

Can't know what Vesey's main priorities are obviously, but situation-wise it's hard to imagine a better landing spot than Pittsburgh.

Most recent Cup winner.
2 superstar centers.
Crappy scoring LWs.
New arena.

Panarin's a LW, so I'm not sure how that's any kind of incentive. Toews didn't crack 60 points over a full season last year. Pens also have Kessel, who plays RW, if you want to bring potential linemates into the equation.

Plus the Penguins are for sale, so that helps by having unknown ownership issues likely coming to a head right about the time he is coming off his entry level deal.

I just don't understand why it's a big deal. Matthews likely knows Vesey quite well, and was brought along to sit in on the interviewer. The horror.

I guess people aren't over the fact Toronto landed Matthews, and don't like seeing his name.

Um, I was thrilled when I found out the Leafs were drafting 1st overall...so yea, that has nothing to do with anything.

If Vesey goes to NJD who is odd man out?

In the scenario that Vesey signs with the NJ it appears that the devils will have a log jam and a half of top 9 wingers, with this being said who would be the odd man out of a position and thus most likely to be on the move?

My projected Lines (w/ Vesey)

Palmieri-Henrique-Hall
Vesey-Zajac-D.S.P
Cammalerri-Zacha-Boucher

Remaining players: Blandisi, Kalinin, Beau Bennett, Vernon Fiddler, Josefson, (Elias?)

*Which three do you think fill out 4th line, who do you think becomes available via trade?

I'm not sure DSP stays on that second line there.
