Well said. You'd think by the reactions he's getting that he pulled a Lindros here. Social media breeds hatred now more than ever and this kid deserves none of it because he's handled it like a pro and done nothing other than exercise his rights set out by the CBA. If he becomes a regular middle six 40 point scorer that's fantastic, but most people on here will probably consider that a failure because of the hype he's been getting.

Lindros didn't do anything against the rules either. Quebec didn't have to draft him, and he didn't have to sign with or play in Quebec if they did. He was even willing to miss an entire season to get what he wanted.

Kid gave up the option to sign an NHL contract in past years, giving up a few million dollars because he was dedicated to his college team.

I don't see what to hate about that. It screams of integrity to me....

I think most people are saying that after he finished college, he shouldn't have a right to skip out on the team that drafted him. I don't think most are saying he shouldn't have went and graduated from Harvard. But, those rules were in place and he's just exercising his rights.

As a Canuck fan praying Boeser doesn't do the same thing, although I don't think he will, I have to agree with this completely. It's a bad loophole that needs to be addressed in the next CBA.

Hawks are scheduled to meet with Vesey on Wednesday, so it would be impossible for them to be off the list before they meet.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Yeah, the Hawks are definitely in it.

It seems like the biggest thing going against the Hawks right now is the distance from Boston as well as the issue of the 2nd contract and beyond. He may produce big time playing along the talent they have there and cash out on the 2nd contract but there's a solid chance it won't be with Chicago. Question has to be asked from his perspective is it worth it after all of this to pick your location and potentially only play there for 2 seasons.

Speaking as am American (not bragging, just a fact :))anybody, especially freedom loving Americans who complain about him, should get a swift kick up their backside. I can understand Nashville fans being upset but fans from other teams have no reason to criticize him, he's done nothing wrong. This is coming from a Sabres fan too.

To answer that question about what the Devils would do, I think their lineups would look something like:

Hall - Henrique - Bennett
Cammalleri - Zajac - Palmieri
Vesey - Zacha - Boucher
Josefson - Fiddler - DSP

So yea, it would be tough to insert Vesey in the top 6 immediately unless they move Cam to RW. Luckily for him, Bennett is an injury waiting to happen so I'm sure he would get his chances. I also don't know if NHL teams would be comfortable playing him at RW.

Then I'd imagine one of JQ/Blandisi/Pietela could seriously be moved for defensive depth

What the hell are you talking about? I'm not not "so sure" he signs with the Rangers

You can face palm all you want. Doesn't stop it from being true.

You post as if the Devils have no shot, saying "At least they got to dream for a day." So of course when a tread was made about Vesey being in the Devils line-up, you had to jump in. Lets not forget how highly their Agent talks about the Rangers, and the real front running teams will meet with him tomorrow. Are you really telling me you don't believe he signs with the Rangers, or are you just being picky on the words "So Sure."

So, the same can be said about McDavid or any other highly touted prospect?
No, completely different situation. He bailed on the team that drafted him. I know it's legal but it's still such a classless move. I hope he fails miserably. And I'm not even a Preds fan.

whoever he signs with will be getting a good nhl player with the potential to get 50 pts on day. He is very sought after even though i don't think he is as good as advertised. Hoping if the leafs miss him he goes to either the rags or pens. Both teams would be good fit and the rags could use the youth while the pens are (all things considered) the best landing spot for him in terms of ability to win, get paid on 2nd deal, get resigned by pens, get a big role, score a crap ton of pts with sid or geno, and play/live in a nice city which is kind of close to his hometown. Hoping he comes to toronto, but those two other teams are places where i'd like to see vesey play if he isn't signing here.

All valid points except the part about Pittsburgh being a nice city. It's not horrible but I certainly wouldn't call it a selling point. San Diego, Miami, New York, Denver maybe, but Pittsburgh? May as well be Scranton or Albany. I'm sure the suburbs are great though. Mullets, camo, dirt tracks, you name it.

i already dislike this kid a lot

most of us would be on our knees just to have a job close to the NHL

this kid just does not recognize luxury, entitled dbag

I bet you've already done the exact same thing in your life so it seems pretty pointless to complain about it.

Detroit made a pitch but they were told that Vesey would prefer to stay closer to home.

Looks like Chicago might be off the list now.

Very interesting. I'm surprised that he would give them an excuse like this, instead of simply saying "not interested". For his sake he shouldn't really be speaking with Chicago now unless he doesn't want a very bad reputation, which already isn't too good.

I would also add that when you look at the teams that have been rumored to be on Vesey's "list": Toronto, NYR, NYI, NJD, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Boston, and Chicago...

Chicago is the lone western conference team and clearly much further from Boston than the rest. The fact that it was confirmed by his agent to be on his list at all shows there must be some other strong factors that would potentially interest Vesey. He's not stupid; he knows where Chicago is located.

In the end I don't think it will be enough, but if Chicago were to be ruled out PURELY based on location, well then it would already have been ruled out a long time ago.

if you follow the Devils or the NHL at all... you'd know that Cammalleri will injure himself flushing a toilet or something and miss 75% of the season. So Vesey can be #2 LW for a good chunk of the season
