"Hey Jimmy, sign with us so we can trade you in two years because we don't have enough cap space to give you a contract."

He gave up tons of money and risked a lot to become a UFA, it would be pretty stupid for him to go to a team that would take the choice out of his hands in two years.

Toews, Kane, Crawford, Seabrook, Hossa, Keith aren't going to be the ones getting traded Jimmy!

Hudler sure. But he's also 34 instead of 23. Russell is a D, so that doesn't really mean much if you're looking for a winger, and while I like Pirri, I don't think his game is well rounded enough to make much of an impact. Sure he might score some goals from time to time, but that's all he can do, and the fact that a 25 yr old 20g scorer still doesn't have a job come mid August should be rather telling.

The bottom line is that Vesey is a free asset to whomever signs him. He's big, skilled and young. Maybe he doesn't pan out. But odds are he will. Which means whomever signs him will be very happy.

Yeah i could agree with that.

Left Wing on Krejci's line.

When DK has had good wingers, they've all scored close to 30 goals while all having great seasons (Horton/Lucic/Iggy/Seguin)

Granted all the above mentioned are very good players all got paiiiiiiddddd on their next contracts.

Bruins are the best fit for Vesey in all aspects thus I believe he will be a Bruin come Thursday.

the hawks offer is so amazing that it couldn't be contained in the existing vesey thread. Over/under on how many vesey threads we get today?

All teams are front-runners until he chooses one.

I wonder if the Vesey decision will lead to a trickle down effect with other free agents?

I can see Chicago making an offer to Hudler if they miss out on Vesey

I think there is a legit chance (not saying very likely) that Hossa is going to LTIR in two years, at least if they win another cup. And you can't know how much the cap is going to rise, so don't speculate like it's the truth.

And the hawks have anisimov signed for a long time... And they need to give Panarin a contract.

If Vesey is looking at that cap situation and thinks he will be able to get big bucks if he plays well he is getting terrible advice.

The hawks have 56 million tied up in 9 players (not including what they will be paying Panarin) in the year Vesey is an RFA.

So looks like all the front running teams are going tomorrow. Smart move to keep those teams fresh in his head when he makes the decision.

How do you have a clue of who are front-runners? Do you think Haggerty, Dater and Jimmy Murphy are credible?

You do realize a player has to be legitimately injured to be eligible for LTIR?

Panarin will get $6M-$7M. They already have $56,421,795 committed for 9 players. Panarin puts them at $63M-$64M for 10 players.

They have today 2.4M cap space, + 1.125M on retained Scuderi, 1y Campbell contract and 3M cap bonuses going against the cap.
They can make Panarin signing work.

Every team has players to sign, few contenders aren't close to cap.

But there are better fits if the cap space is the #1 priority for him.

How would your teams line-up look with Vesey?

---

Komarov-Matthews-Nylander
JVR-Bozak-Marner
Vesey-Kadri-Soshnikov
Martin-Laich-Hyman/Greening/Leivo/Brown

Marchand Bergeron Backes
Vesey Krejci Pasta
Beleksey Spooner Vatrano
Acciari Nash Hayes

With Heinen, Czarnik and Griffith looking to push their way in.

I love how with the Hawks it's "they can make it work" but with the Bruins your mantra is they are always in "cap hell".

Haven't said the Bruins are now in cap hell, Hawks have cap space right now as you can see.
But keep claiming what you want.
If a team has 1 important re-signing in the next 2 years I don't see that as the worst possible situation.

Yes and I guess you are aware of the fact, that Hossa's injury history is quite varied. Concussion history, he had a really serious back-injury etc..

I'm not saying, again, that this is likely scenario. But there is a legit chance. I don't think no-one is even counting on that, but the fact how Panthers have managed with Bolland and Leafs with Robidas, anything is possible.

More likely scenario is that cap is going to rise with $10 million in next two seasons, but I don't count on that either.
