All of the teams going today minus the Islanders have been considered front runners from one source or another. There are like 6 front runners for Vesey right now.
Pens are not a front running team.

Hudler sure. But he's also 34 instead of 23. Russell is a D, so that doesn't really mean much if you're looking for a winger, and while I like Pirri, I don't think his game is well rounded enough to make much of an impact. Sure he might score some goals from time to time, but that's all he can do, and the fact that a 25 yr old 20g scorer still doesn't have a job come mid August should be rather telling.
The bottom line is that Vesey is a free asset to whomever signs him. He's big, skilled and young. Maybe he doesn't pan out. But odds are he will. Which means whomever signs him will be very happy.
Panarin will get $6M-$7M. They already have $56,421,795 committed for 9 players. Panarin puts them at $63M-$64M for 10 players.
Doesn't hossa's salary drop a ton starting in 2017-18?

So looks like all the front running teams are going tomorrow. Smart move to keep those teams fresh in his head when he makes the decision.
I think there is a legit chance (not saying very likely) that Hossa is going to LTIR in two years, at least if they win another cup. And you can't know how much the cap is going to rise, so don't speculate like it's the truth.

All teams are front-runners until he chooses one.
I wonder if the Vesey decision will lead to a trickle down effect with other free agents?
I can see Chicago making an offer to Hudler if they miss out on Vesey
How would your teams line-up look with Vesey?

Komarov-Matthews-Nylander
JVR-Bozak-Marner
Vesey-Kadri-Soshnikov
Martin-Laich-Hyman/Greening/Leivo/Brown
They have today 2.4M cap space, + 1.125M on retained Scuderi, 1y Campbell contract and 3M cap bonuses going against the cap.
They can make Panarin signing work.
Every team has players to sign, few contenders aren't close to cap.

But unfortunately the cap hit stays the same.
I love how with the Hawks it's "they can make it work" but with the Bruins your mantra is they are always in "cap hell".
You do realize a player has to be legitimately injured to be eligible for LTIR?
