So just to tee everyone up for this, we'll know August.10th if we got 1st OA or not(Monday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. ET) is the draw.

Beating 7 other balls will be all it will take:

The eight teams that do not advance from the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers will be eligible to win Phase 2 of the 2020 NHL Draft Lottery. All participants will have the same odds (12.5%) and will be represented in the lottery machine by one ball with their team logo.

So if we lose the draw, we have #15 guarenteed and it ships to Minny automatically or does JR get to make a decision?

eta: I guess it'd be up to JR, give them this or 2021 from what i read.

Didn't make the playoffs so it's technically still a lottery protected pick. I think JR gets to choose.

The Q is the only league outside of the NHL i follow closely, so I can't speak to most players in the draft, however, seeing Dawson Mercer listed as a 10-15 prospect in the draft makes me think this isn't a great year to be picking high. Unfortunately.

It is a great year, Mercer is merely an outlier. There are a ton of great forward prospects available in this year's draft. Mercer has seemed somewhat overrated in most draft lists that I have seen, but the general consensus for this year is that it is a very deep draft, in particular for forwards.

Two other centers could be around in the 15 range (where we will likely pick if we don't win Lafreniere), also from the Q: Hendrix Lapierre and Mavrik Bourque.

If they have as much potential as their names suggest, I would be happy with either.
