That’s why I liked Doan’s proposal, with the intent being rewarding effort over shameless tanking. As a note, I don’t see us as shameless. My original home team (Chicago) is the most recent example of shameless tanking, imo and I hate them for it.

I've heard about Doan's idea. Either I didn't hear it in detail or I've forgotten the details I did hear. As long as it still gives the lesser teams a legitimate chance to get better through the draft, I wouldn't be against it.

(It has to wait until BAs done seeing this through though!)

As I recall, we’d be perfect for it, as one of the better of the bottom teams, but hey, given my recent mathematical stupidity…. take it with a salt lick.

That doesn't make sense. The Coyote's, and only the Coyote's, had a number of different applications for said site.

In Arizona any state, county or local authority looking to sell off an asset they own must put the asset up for public bid or auction.

That’s state law.

Just as Tempe had to open an RFP for TED. Doesn’t matter that the Coyotes did all that work and negotiating, it involved the city selling land they owned and that required a public notice and made it open to competition.

"That day you're mathematically eliminated, you start accumulating points. When you get to the end of the year, whoever's accumulated the most points gets the first overall pick."

This seems like it would all but kill the TDL and make the offseason busier. Also, if there's fewer players available at the TDL to bolster for a playoff run, prices go up too. But what do I know? And would that actually be a bad thing?

Teams would find ways to abuse as well, but at least it promotes competition.

Even AZ hasn’t quite been mathematically eliminated yet. So that doesn’t make much sense.

Not sure if you mean Doan's plan doesn't make much sense or my thoughts on what could happen to the TDL if implemented, but good point!
I mean mathematical elimination isn’t a sensible starting point as it would reduce the sample size to a wholly meaningless pool. This would not accomplish anything like what Doan seems to hope it would accomplish.

Regulation win = 2pts
Overtime/shootout = 1pt
Loss = 0pts

Would never happen but I think that would make Doan's idea more viable.

Now I wonder if there could be high probability of an excessive amount of ties between the eliminated group of teams at season's end with Doan's idea.

I'm just thinking of how close the standings are over the first 15 or so games of the season because the sample size is so short. Lots of teams have the same amount of points that early into the season. Lots! I'm thinking that a competition between the eliminated teams, that is only about 15 games or so, would also result in more of the same. A huge cluster***k because there wasn't enough time for teams to separate themselves.

Ex. -

2 teams tied for 1st in points
3 teams tied for 2nd
5 teams tied for 3rd
2 teams tied for 4th
Etc.

If any variation of this were to happen, it's way too messy.

how many teams are eliminated with more than ten games left? 4?

Most of the teams involved would only have 2-5 games in the race. Which makes no sense.

I agree. The more I think about it the less I think it works (or makes sense) without causing a lot of other problems. Like it ends up with a lottery no matter what. Kinda weird too.

Having a beer with some friends last night and they said move the team to SLC. In 6 to 8 years let AM get an expansion team once his arena is complete. By selling the team now high he could finance the project and then be in the next round of expansion.. I said Fu.. and drank my beer.

Tell your friends that if the coyotes leave they won’t be back in our lifetime.

I believe he bought the team for 300 million. Sells the team for 600 million, Profit of almost 60 million a year. Dang tempting. Hopefully he really loves the Coyotes.

I understand that. But what is the purpose of the "Appeals Board?" Also, the Coyote's were the only name listed and they had multiple applications.

Why do you even bother watching these shit heads?

You'd have to ask them.

Regardless of what name they have, this was the board that had to look at the application and approve it to go forward.

They have now approved it so we wait for the posting of all the materials.
