Trent Beretta is out with an injury.

from today's wrestlinginc.com:

Trent Beretta was seemingly written out of AEW storylines Saturday night on "Collision" after long-time rival Orange Cassidy hit him in the back of the head with a monkey wrench. The move was presented as a morally ambiguous and potentially momentous act in terms of Cassidy's character, shocking both his friends and his enemies, and if Fightful Select's reporting is accurate, it's the last we'll see of Beretta in some time, as he is dealing with a legitimate injury.

Beretta and Cassidy have been feuding since the former turned on the latter back in April, but Cassidy had come out on top in both their singles matches since then, including Beretta's most recent in-ring performance at AEW Double or Nothing on May 26. According to Fightful, AEW was planning to push Beretta as a heel following Double or Nothing, as indicated by him joining the Don Callis Family on the May 29 episode of "AEW Dynamite, but he hasn't been cleared to compete, and now it seems he's being forced to take time away from the company.

As of this writing there is no word on the nature of Beretta's injury, whether it will require surgery, or how long he'll be absent from AEW programming. With Beretta's absence, AEW is now entirely deprived of the original Best Friends, a tag team that competed at the promotion's very first show, Double or Nothing 2019. The other founding member of the team, Chuck Taylor, worked his last match against Beretta in April and is believed to have retired from wrestling.

You always know someone is going to have a match the following Dynamite or Collision when they appear on AEW programming for the first time in recent weeks and squash someone. Then just like magic they have a match on whichever program airs next. After Nyla won I immediately wondered who she was going to wrestle Wednesday then sure enough they air her promo. I suppose that's part of the problem with so much talent under contract however it is a noticeable and predictable format under which Tony Khan operates.

They've done it the reverse sometimes too.

Next week: LANCE ARCHER VS. ORANGE CASSIDY FOR THE INTERNATIONAL TITLE

This Friday on Rampage: LANCE ARCHER WILL TAKE ON SERPENTICO.

Seems short sighted to put both of Swerve/Okada and Osprey/MJF on TV even if it is a celebratory episode

Is the Swerve/Okada match non-title?

They should have planned this out a little better and not had the 250th show in Little Rock, especially when they are throwing out a card like that, should have been in someplace maybe more special for AEW

No idea. Just happened to see it on X.

Important viewing

Not really. Dalton always loses on AEW programming.

Alvarez had a wonderful rant about ROH being completely useless and yet AEW uses the show to tout goobers going on winning streaks before they get slaughtered on Dynamite or Collision.

If a promotion has no views, should the wins count?

The Outrunners are always f***ing important viewing, deal with it goofball

There may be a joke to be made about Chris O'Dowd, Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega but humour is lost on me today. The trio should be on Finding Your Roots. At some point they all connect to a single branch on a tree before it branched out into their separate families.
