Hes not just over, he’s also bringing everybody with him. He hasn’t brought down a single segment he’s been in yet. Then we have DX sucking the life out of an entire showBilly Gunn in a featured match, in which he is over, the same week DX does a 25-year reunion.
As someone who was old enough to watch DX in their glory days AND still think that was the most entertaining thing broadcast at that time.. I agree. I watched (parts) of Raw for the reunion. Woof... pretty f***ing boring. That said, I don't think Daddy Ass' overness is anything more than sheer luck. He's riding the coattails of The Aclaimed (everyone loves The Acclaimed, afterall). But... credit to Billy, he still looks like a million bucks and has a bit of swagger that none of his DX counterparts still carry. To be fair, HHH probably would still have it, but he's cemented in his executive stuff. Oddly enough, I think Xpac, or whatever you want to call him, could go over in the right story too.Hes not just over, he’s also bringing everybody with him. I don’t think it’s luck. It’s just better writing and AEW (in general) having a better feel for their audienceAs someone who was old enough to watch DX in their glory days AND still think that was the most entertaining thing broadcast at that time.. Crowd was hot for the most part, seemed a fun live event to be at. Butcher, Blade, bunny segment aired... it was kinda dumb. Hayter had some cheers, but i don't specifically remember a chant (although there should have been!)How did the crowd come across on TV? It was fun from the stands. Edge is better. Daddy Magic. Ocho. People tried to get a Jamie Hayter chant started where they were singing her name to the tune of No Limit by 2 Unlimited. Local wrestler Jody Threat was way over in her match with Athena for Dark Elevation. If Daddy Magic wasn't scheduled for a Dark match tomorrow he may be after tonight.
Did a Butcher and the Blade backstage segment air on Dynamite? It played for the crowd and seemed to set up a Rampage match against the Gunns then I see Mox and Claduio are fighting Butcher and the Blade on Rampage. Obviously one of those matches has more star power than the other.
Almost seems cruel to sell these shirts if Kenny and/or the Bucks don't make an appearance tomorrow.
Crowd was very good on TV. Not sure what sort of cost difference it was to run Toronto but they’d be foolish not to go back in the spring for another couple shows. It helped that the show was strong but that crowd was excellentHow did the crowd come across on TV? It was fun from the stands. Edge is better. Daddy Magic. Ocho. Thank you for the post.Tonight they taped two hours of Dark matches before Rampage. No spoilers however some of the wrestlers on Dark were decent names and Rampage had an interesting appearance or two. For the most part the enthusiasm matched Dynamite even though there were less people. We will see what https://twitter.com/WrestleTix estimates as a final count however it should be 12,000+ people over two days. I don't know if it's everywhere or only in Toronto but QT Marshall is over as a heel, wayyy over. He was in a match then later another Factory member was in a match and there were chants (the type of chant when for instance some might chant Jungle Boy then others Luchasaurus aka Jungle Boy - Luchasaurus) Dante Martin - QT Sucks and Let's Go Ricky - QT Sucks (which are both supporting the same wrestler so it's kind of funny). Also to the tune of Oh Scissor Me Daddy there was Oh QT's an Asshole and when The Factory were ordered away from ringside a na na na na - na na na na - hey hey - goodbye sing along occurred.
Each night was a little over three hours with tonight actually being longer than last night's Elevation and Dynamite. I don't know if the enthusiasm would be the same if they had two or three events per year in Toronto nor do I know if they could run shows on consecutive nights multiple times per year because people attended these shows from across the country and may not be willing to do that repeatedly. The crowd seemed deserving of a PPV however if Double or Nothing and All Out remain in their respective cities and Revolution occurs on the west coast then it would have to be Full Gear or Forbidden Door (if it becomes a yearly event).
Shawn Spears - all the talk of him and/or AEW running out his contract and/or purposely being kept off TV for whichever reasons the "news" sites claimed may not have been true. Potentially another instance of them getting a story wrong, shocker, I know. After Rampage went off the air he said his mother died (appears to have happened in August and been due to cancer) so he has been away processing that. He also mentioned he was having a son but maybe if you follow him or Cassie on social media they have already publicly revealed the gender of the child.
I'm happy to have Spears back since he's going back to his perfect 10 gimmick. He didn't do much for me as a heel in AEW but I liked him in NXT as a face.Dang. I forgot. Happy to see Spears back, he's never going to be a main eventer, but I've enjoyed nearly everything he does. Also happy to see Cage (Brian) getting involved in more things... just wish the mic never entered his hands. He's got the look, he can wrestle... but the minute he starts talking he loses 18 charisma points.
Womens tag match was the best women's match AEW has had in... forever?
Shawn Spears' portion of the post-Rampage farewell to the fans
AEW has been disappointing ever since the ROH purchase to me. They're expecting everyone to recognize these ROH guys when they appear. I never watched ROH. I don't know many of them. Same with the New Japan guys. It's hard to get into.
The Acclaimed miiiight have something to say about that. Close though.Catching up on Dynamite now, MJF is by far the most over person in the entire business

I like Cage as a wrestler but yeah his mic work is bad. The feud seems so lopsided though. You have Cage and GOA on one side against WarJo, FTR and now Spears. Doesn't seem very competitive.
The Acclaimed booking confuses me too. They're still feuding with Swerve but Keith Lee is nowhere to be seen. Then they're also feuding with Nese and his goofball manager who were feuding with Swerve not long ago. How about a feud with an actual tag team.
