Im not sure how I feel about it to be honest.
Before everyone started making trades I was content with staying put as long as we couldnt get our hands on Landeskog without trading carlo/mcavoy.
But the way things have progressed with basically all our rivals making moves, getting stronger, it would be nice to respond in some way, considering that it feels like we have something really good going on since Cassidy.

are our rivals getting stronger?

The Sens acquisitions adds depth, not sure if either makes them better, if it does, minimally IMO

Habs have done little to convince me they are stronger today so far

Leafs, nice pick up with Boyle, makes them less exposed up the middle and perhaps they are better but not to the point where it has me overly concerned again

There has not been one deal made thus far that has me of the opinion that Sweeney needs/should react to whatsoever

Agreed, the old cliche applies here for me, "sometimes the best move is no moves"

Same.

Although, the discussions should rightfully take place going into the summer regarding the lack of any move over such a long period of time to address the list above.

Hey, if he can't get it today and none that fit that criteria are moved, so be it.

But in the summer, we should all fully expect some help as another season of this core would have passed by with two holes that possibly are the result of the shortened season for a third year.

This time last year (within a day) the Bruins were 85% odds to make the playoffs. We all like what we have seen since the move but that third period was really sloppy and the Rangers are up next with a team that will no longer be looking to management for additions or subtractions.

If they buy anything for more than a 3rd round pick the stakes are massive. Make the playoffs at minimum or there will be hell to pay

I think it's safe to say that, based on Murph's 'sources' accuracy, the Bruins will not be trading Zboril, the Penguins will acquire Vrbata, the Bruins are NOT in a bidding war for Vrbata, and there is not much interest in Del Zotto and Streit :naughty:

Not exactly shocker but buzz today around @QMJHL that #NHLBruins prospect Jakub Zbořil could be traded by B's. Purely speculation for now.

Agreed again, I haven`t a clue about how the interactions work between GM`s but from what I`ve read/heard from those who have their pulse far more firmly pressed on the button, some deals that don`t take place now, are consummated over the summer as the GM`s just didn`t/couldn`t pull the trigger now so who knows

I think he was looking more after this year and beyond.

Atlantic is WIDE open for anything to walk to the ECF. Toronto is going to get stronger every year with those rookies entering their prime (they could have 3 of the top 5 Calder candidates). Florida continues to improve and their players are entering their prime. Buffalo as well.

So you look at this year as wide open and hope that every attempt was realistically made to land Landeskog and that the price was too high.

At the same time, I really hope not adding or helping this core once again doesn't negatively affect the team too much.

Jimmy Murphy and the words "purely speculation" are synonymous

Tell ya one thing, Sportsnet is doing this right, Bryzgalov on the panel about the only thing remotely interesting to watch

Selling who?

And who wants to buy whatever the Bruins are selling?

Agreed. I'm sure the bruins are willing to sell Hayes or liles but the demand isn't there. No idea who else would be shipped out honestly. Not Chara if that's what is going to be said.

Yes because making the playoffs would be terrible instead of selling and getting great draft picks year after year that you can then trade for more draft picks. Worked out well for years in Edmonton.

we are not edmonton and we are not a stanley cup team , its obvious. people on here love to see the splash deal.

on another note

I don't know...

I love your Yakupov idea. Lazar fits that mold too.

I'd be in favor of packaging prospects for an elite player but I'm not convinced Landeskog is an elite player.

I also feel like there will be a big letdown in the room if they see all these teams above and BELOW them make additions to try and improve while the B's do nothing? I can't see that sitting well.

I certainly don't want to see them overpay for a Vrbata, but there has to a player out there who A) is an upgrade on Hayes and B) isn't too expensive to acquire.

(I'd also like to see them unload a few guys, if they can.)

I fear the Habs now...

That's a better, deeper team than it was two days ago. Addition by subtraction with Pateryn, useless mid round picks and a mediocre forward for a very annoying, gritty center/wing in Ott, a big, toughish forward in King and a solid D in Benn. Add that to Gallagher, Shaw, Emelin, that punk Pacioretty, Weber and McCarron and that is an annoying, tough team to play against in a seven game series.
