lol let the cherry-picking begin. Smith has 20 more points than Connolly. But hey, whatever makes us feel better about a trade.

I can tell I'm going to have fits trying to shut down everyone who is now turning Smith into the whipping boy despite being 3rd on the team in scoring.

Again do you know Connolly's linemates, does he get PP time like Smith ? Only asking cause these are common sense things, that will effect stats.

There are many Bruins fans in Montreal going back to the 1970's when more Bruins games were seen on Montreal cable than Habs or Nords games.

A tiny UHF station in Burlington, Vermont picked up every game that WSBK-TV38 in Boston aired.

Back then Montreal televised NO road games (except Toronto) until the playoffs started. The Bruins were on 2/3 times a week on Channel 22.

Wow thats interesting
Before the expos left they weren't even airing the games on TV anymore. No wonder the fans hated ownership

I want goals is that a big deal ? Some just want to bash like another poster said to me.

I think you get it with Connolly. He has the same amount of goals as Smith but like Russellmania said, Smith has a more complete game now.

I'm hoping that coming to Boston and being put into a situation where he can play in the top six will be his breakout.

It would be really nice to be on the winning end of a trade where the Bruins acquire the RW elite prospect and the player fulfills his potential.

One of the few things Habs Fans and Bruins fans agree on... We hate the Leafs :)

When the Bruins won the Cup in 2011 there was a parade for Bruins fans and Stanley magically appeared for an hour at Gibeau Orange Julep on the west side of Montreal.

probably insane

Was thinking similar thoughts.Although maybe I would count Bergy's line as the "no 1". With that being said; i have to wonder how many more stupid penalties Marchand can take with extended ice time...
No perhaps you had it right all along :p:

Don't hate it, wish we could have done more, doing so was clearly cost prevented.

I do not make most of the deals that went down today, not with any confidence to fix this club for the near future and a cup run anyways.

That's the same for me. Speed added and a great shot added. Chiarelli didn't pay for a rental he paid for a goal-scorer right now who could grow into a great player.

Exactly, warming up to the deal I knew who he was etc. thought even TB snagged a good player at the draft, some players take a little longer and then there's being in a position to succeed. I'd take this chance with Bruin picks..

We have our 1st keep calm

The reception was brutal, snow everywhere but it was the Bruins so I'd watch no matter how ****** it was.

I now have official broken my silence on this site to state I like this trade for Brett Connolly. I can live with the second rounders being paid out on consecutive years while the Bruins retain the Flyers' 2nd round pick.

Connolly has a lot of skill/speed to offer. He's young. I believe he had suffered some injuries that have set him back when he was in the Tampa Bay organization. I remember hockey pundits saying he was an Yzerman comparison when he was drafted.

The Bruins should be buyers because they sit on the second wild card spot. I'd rather they sit there then chase like Florida and Philly. Chiarelli has to trade off Soderberg by tomorrow if he can't re-sign him by morning. The Bruins need a #4 defense man(R. Polak or B Dillion?) and a veteran goalie(Svenberg won't cut it)badly. I don't want Kassian after Ryan Reaves thumped him out tonight regardless whether it was a sucker shot or not.

I think we can beat the Habs if the playoffs started today. If I'm Chiarelli, I'd bring up the Providence Bruins and have them scrimmage with the varsity in Habs jersey and have Looch and the boys tee off on them in a simulated game to break the Habs mind screw on them.

Chiarelli ain't going anywhere despite what Charlie Jacobs or Cam Neely said. Peter has a lot of work ahead of him with so little time. Here's hoping Chiarelli can do something by 3 PM.

No they shouldn't. Gudas is absolutely terrible.

I don't know. He's a pain in the ass to play against and seems like the type of guy that would thrive in this system. It would be nice to see some more physicality on the backend with Johhny gone and Z, Seids, and Mcquaid having thier physicality drop considerably with injury and age. But, hey, i guess you've seen enough of his 126 games to write off a 24yo Dman.

Agree that two 2nd's is a bit high for Connolly.

On the other hand we get a young player, at low cost, with potential to become a pretty solid player here if everything pans out.

Totally expected Chia to go after some slow, UFA veteran presence (yeah, might still arrive) so in that aspect im quite surprised that it seems that he actually is trying to improve this group in the long run rather than push the panic-button and overpay for Cole etc. Not that i want to justify his work lately in any way as it's been non-excisting from our POV all season, but i strongly want to believe that this is a small step in the right directon.

Interesting day ahead

Given the prices other teams have paid in the past 72 hours the B's didn't overpay that much.

Let's see what the next 12 hours bring.

I really like this move. The Bruins still have the Flyer's 2015 2nd and the Islander's 2016 2nd, so trading their own 2nd round picks in consecutive years isn't too much to swallow.

I'd like to think that Smith is moved to the left wing spot to suit his shot - or better yet I'd even move Smith for Kassian or Stewart at this point.

Lucic - Krejci - Pastrnak
Marchand - Bergeron - Kassian / Stewart
Eriksson - Soderberg - Connolly
Paille - Kelly - Ferlin

That would look real nice heading into the playoffs.

On another note, I really think they're still missing another forward and definitely a defenseman or two - especially for the playoffs. Let's keep active today, Peter.

Smith only in 2nd year and by most having off year and still right up there on team in scoring.I think he is going to have a few good years ahead.Scary to give up on him for them players you mention. And Stewert is a player who can walk after playoffs.
