This D situation is perplexing.....

2015 Defense Depth Chart

Left
Chara
Seidenberg
Krug
Irwin
Morrow
Arnesson
O'Gara
Zboril
Lauzon

Right
McQuaid
K.Miller
Trotman
C.Miller
Carlo

Some restructuring may be in order. :naughty:

Not necessarily. If you take out the guys with little to no shot of making the big club:

Left
Chara
Irwin
Krug
Morrow

Right
Trotman
C. Miller
McQuaid
K. Miller

Shoots left, plays either
Seidenberg

Not saying I like the group at all. But we don't need to make a trade just because of who plays what side.

Isn't Bergeron's cap hit $6.5 Million? His extension was 8 years/$52 Million. Cap geek had him at $6.5M.

Talbot originally signed with the Flyers for 5 years/$8.75 Millon. That's $1.75/per. The Avalanche supposedly retained 50% of his cap hit. That would make his upcoming cap hit $875K?
I'm not 100% sure regarding Talbot, but Bergeron's cap hit is $6.875M.

From WAR on Ice:
Before today, it was publicly believed that Bergeron and the Bruins agreed to an 8 year, $52M contract ($6.5M AAV). However, our sources have confirmed that they actually agreed to an 8 year, $55M contract ($6.875M AAV), structured as follows:

Years 1-4: $8.750M salary, $0.0M bonus
Year 5: $0.875M salary, $6.0M bonus
Year 6: $0.875M salary, $3.5M bonus
Years 7-8: $3.375M salary, $1.0M bonus

Bergeron will be 36 years old when the contract expires after the 2021-22 season. We do not know at this time what implications this has for the Bruins’ salary cap situation for the 2014-15 season.

both General Fanager and Hockey’s Cap have Patrice Bergeron’s cap number listed at $6.875 million — the correct number

Morrow better get a real chance this year. This kid is good. I'm not a fan of Trotman.
We may have to ditch Krug at the deadline and give Morrow and the new Miller their shots.
3.4+mil for a 5th Dman when you hardly have two top four defenseman is not the best idea. Unless Krug shows us he can be a #4 puck mover

I just cringe when I see **** like this. Krug is everything you want in a player: competes, smart, productive, team guy by all accounts and great off the ice as well. The only thing he lacks is ideal size, but he has proven himself to be a good NHL player.

What exactly has Joe Morrow done to warrant trading Krug and handing him (JM) a Top 4 D spot??

Thanks. That's been bothering for a long time. I was simply going off of this, assuming it to be correct.

The only way I want to see Krug traded if it is for a top 2 guy; like Shattenkirk. I realize we have to add significantly, but I'd be okay with that as he'd be a young top defenseman.

Someone else posted Krug and San Jose's first; but I think I'd do that with something else added if necessary. Signed for two more years at 4.25 and better than Hamilton as of now; potentially better than him in a few years too.

I really do not like our defense beyond the lack of top talent. With a declining Chara and questionable Seids, we are lacking the solid 2way defenseman that were important during our cup. Everyone is either a stay-at-home dman or offensensive dman. We do not have any Boychuks or Ferences and no longer have 2011 Seids/Chara.

In their cap situation,
Where did you see this?

Someone posted the rumor yesterday ( or the day before ) and it must have gotten buried in the other talk that was going on. I didn't have time to respond to it because I was on my phone and posting on hfboards with a cell phone sucks.

It just sounds so weird when you look at their cap situation and we are talking of Chara and he is our captain, I personnally haven't seen any Yandle-Chara rumours.'

But that would give them a chance to bring in Franson too but is it really worth it? We have no Chara replacement in system and we'd trade Chara, sounds a bit scary.

And I cringe when I see stuff like this....

He's a bottom pairing guy so far making mid pairing money.

His offensive is good... but defensively he's below average.
