Because I'm afraid that Trotman is the guy who'd win that roster spot with Chara, then Krug being the only strong puck mover, exactly the opposite of what Sweeney has been talking about.

Chara-C.Miller
Morrow-Franson
Krug-McQ
=3 physical tougher to play against players and 3 fast elite skating puck movers.
Then at some point he adds that missing top pairing D who in time will replace Chara.

But with your lineup we have the cap issue, who goes and who replaces him?

I didn't, but I've been studying him now, reading, looking at La fans threads and videos about him, and those have gotten me interested.

Don't know where the Morrow love is coming from? IMO, Trotman was far better than Morrow, who was a train wreck in his own end. Also, Trots is not a bad skater. He's no Karlsson, but few are.

Really, correct me if I'm wrong but I think that I speak for (myself and) others here who thought that he looked pretty good in his own end.

I thought Morrow looked incredibly poised during his short stint in Boston. He actually had the best turnover +/- per 60 minutes among the team's defensemen. And to be fair, I liked Trotman's game as well. That's why I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Sweeney stand pat with the current roster and make adjustments in-season, once we see where we're at with our younger players.

Agree here. His breakout passes were great, his skating was great, and his positioning was good. Trotman in his first stint was burned so many times in front of the net just standing in la la land instead of clearing the crease. He did look better in his second stint, but Morrow even with the what, 10 games? Looked better.

People love the flavor of the month. If he played the same exact way and was wearing the number 43 or 44, people would have been calling for his head on a platter.

He was tentative and not a great decision-maker from what I saw when he was up. You and the others you are speaking for are welcome to your opinions. I base my judgments on what I see, not on what number a player is wearing or who we traded for them. Kid was a turnover machine.

Maybe he can improve, but there is no way I am pencilling him in for a Top 4 spot. Hope he proves me wrong.

Like I said, the stats suggest otherwise. Best turnover +/- among Bruins defensemen.

If we didn't have a plan for miller then I doubt he would of been the one included in the Lucic deal.

So 3 people saw something completely different to your one view and its because Morrow is the flavour of the month? Haha.

Let's not forget, his sample size was very small for a player that hadn't played in the NHL and he looked a lot better than Trotman when on the same team under the same circumstances. We're all entitled to our views, but you can't label a reason why ours is different to yours

From al his games he played I think he needs to play a little heavier and use his body more, but turnover machine is something he wasn't.

And of course Bart and Seids would be grilled if they made mistakes like Morrow did, they're a lot more experienced than a guy playing his first games.

That doesn't tell me how you got your cap savings to make that lineup possible, and Morrow was there so it's left hand+ right hand on every pairing. Also I'm seeing time running out on Trotman, he hasn't been able to make it yet and we have ton of strong d prospects growing up.

We need atleast 2 strong puck movers, we had problems with this last year and we lost Hamilton, + Sweeney wants us to play faster game and has been building his roster like that, I just can't see that top4 being successfull in that. Then add McQ on the 3rd pairing leaving again just Krug and he can do it alone.

Our forwards will need ton of offensive support from our D's, Chara-Seids-Franson-McQ-(Trotman) won't give you enough support.

Find out anything interesting? Overall profile?

That 1 player has both shoth and skating elite, which is pretty damm nice and he has a bit of nastiness in him too :handclap: La fans didn't like that he was gone.
+ he exploded last year in the Ahl, +50 points in the AHL as a D is not bad at all. AHL historian kovin lämäri ja voitti all stars viikon luistelukisan.

I disagree and I don't think it's because he was a 'flavour of the month'....I agree he was tentative, but he didn't make too many mistakes. If anything he looked like he was terrified to make one, but he was generally poised and showed flashes of serious upside.

I also liked Warsofky's game before he was hurt, was disappointed to see him walk.

already has more NHL goals than 43 ever has scored in a regular season. I also thought he looked pretty good in boston, however he wasn't playing his game at all. played very safe. didn't take any risks. Part of his game is risks, thats how most offensive defensemen put up their points. the good ones take high percentage risks. morrow didn't take any. After he gets comfortable at the NHL level I think he can settle in as a NHL caliber dman. top 4 might be a stretch but not unfathomable. he's still a young kid. I think bartkowski might be his floor. maybe a trevor daley is his ceiling? i dunno.

Right now the B's need TWO Top 4 D, not just one. This is why I don't understand the "if we sign Franson, we need to deal Sides" posts. Why, so they can create another hole?

Same thing for the "maybe Miller or Trots steps up" crowd. I hope one of them does, but it's probably foolish to think they both will. Sweeney seems like he's trying to reboot on the fly. Starting two rookies in your Top 4 seems like a recipe for disaster and full rebuild?

Sign Franson to a 3yr/$15 mil deal and don't give him an NMC/NTC. If he doesn't work out, or the team sucks, you can still trade him at the deadline of you have to. I'm not saying he's definitely the answer, but how can anybody accurately predict what he will look like playing in a D that has some actual structure (unlike TOR)???

I actually completely agree that we need two more top 4 D.

We needed one before we lost Hamilton. So we're two short.

I think Franson helps fill one of those voids (a good Boychuk replacement), but we need someone to replace Hamilton too.

My thinking on Seids is that I'm quite pessimistic about him even being a top 4 D this year. I mean, he might have to be because of how thin our D group is right now, but that doesn't mean he'll belong there. He was awful last year, basically the Gregory Campbell of our D group, and I'm not sure he's going to be much better this year.

So, I think whatever we do with Seids we still need a Hamilton replacement. Seids isn't going to lead our D group in the post-Chara era. And neither will Franson. But if moving Seids allows us to sign Franson, then we should do it. Seids' contract, after last year, looks more and more like an albatross, but his decline began even before his injury. The injury just may have sped up the decline.

I do hope Krug or one of Morrow/C. Miller/K. Miller/Trotman can step up this year and can take Seids' spot in top 4 D. Seids, as he played last year, was more of a third pairing D.

But overall, you're right -- we need TWO D...

Seidenberg makes more defensive plays than anyone on the team. Even last year.

Still can't see how virtually no one recognized how well Keven Miller played last year and how much of hit the B's took when he went down in the Calgary game (when the Bruins were up 3-0 and lost 4-3).

I also think we should sign one top 4 and leave the other spot open for a young guy. Isn't this also the year Krug will have to prove himself? Maybe that pushes his play to new heights? Worst case, he will remain our PP specialist on the third pair. I'm very intrigued about Colin Miller myself, but I would like for us to add either Franson, or some good puckmover to the top 4.

Problem is, Miller's upside is McQuaid on 3rd pairing. We already have a right-shooting McQuaid on the team. They are both valuable, but the need is top4. Right now they have 1 top 4 in Chara, two almost in Seidenberg and Krug, who have Q marks but could step up/back into those roles, and then a whole bunch of unproven, untested skaters in Trotman, C.Miller, Morrow.

There's too much smoke for there not to be fire. I think we'll see Franson or Oduya become a Bruin.

i watched every game Morrow played last season and I thought he looked very very calm, smooth skating and easy/quick transition of the puck out of the zone. It wasn't a huge sample size but I thought he deserved a longer look over guys like Bart.

I think Trotman's game had major ups and downs...at times he played ok, but I remember quite a few games where he looked in wayyy over his head, and I think he was, part of growing pains. He did make some real questionable plays with the puck that also led directly to goals...I just think it was too much for him, he also looked very confused with the puck, I'd like to see him be more physical too...I think he'll turn into a very solid #5-#6...I don't want him on the Powerplay.

Morrow I think looked real promising, stable top 4 guy who can skate and maybe his offense will develop too at the NHL level. Will be fun to see!

It should have been Loui+Klingberg

hindsight is 20/20. he was a B prospect a the time.

also, it should have been Eriksson + Morrow + 10th overall

I have no ****ing idea how you trade Tyler Seguin and don't get that #10 pick.....

Because Chia showed his hand and got taken to town, it is hindsight but was Morrow really toured higher than Klingberg? I wasn't on the boards then.
