Is this a shot at me because I said hits are poorly tracked? I mean, on the stat sheet, are you telling me they aren't? There's also a big difference between saying ineffective, and saying rarely creating any puck separation. I don't think anybody called him a plug who runs around like a battering ram, hitting the boards.

It's not 4 underwhelming preseasons game. It's 3 underwhelming seasons, and a new start to his 4th season. Nobody is just judging him on his preseason games as if we didn't see this for 3 years. Nobody is picking on him because they want to see him fail.

We all hope he does.
No bud its not a shot at you. I've been told that by many persons on here and I didn't have any individual in mind when I wrote it. I try NOT to take shots at anyone on here, so if it came off that I was sniping at you I apologize. I try to criticize views/ideas, not the folks who express them. And above you are indicating you haven't said "ineffective" which I have definitely heard, so probably not even your view. However there are posters who in one breath said hitting is poorly tracked and in the next proclaimed to me that Laf's hits are ineffective/lesser. I've seen him throw lots of different types hits, puck separation/open ice/finishing after the puck has gone/retaliatory. Without it being tracked, I'm not sure why I should be convinced of something other than what I have seen from him.
The PTO stuff is a new wrinkle that I've only seen in this pre season's meltdown. The point is a handful of preseason games on his off wing is what people are using to judge him as having made no progress from last year. Which really is quite an over reaction. In my opinion, of course.

He also has a lethal wrist shot that he NEVER uses.

Seriously... when do you ever see Laf shoot from beyond the dots?
He does try to shoot from outside occasionally but more often than not there is either incorrect spacing leading to deflected shots, or it goes wide. I think the velocity is good. Just needs to find a way to get it off better and with better accuracy.

He's got tons of ability, if you care not to look for it thats on you not him. Everyone was saying the same thing about Kakko a year and half ago, and now what? Some players take longer, some circumstances are different than others, i think we can wait this out instead of trading him for garbage.

I could compare bedard to Gretzky and be disappointed thats the point. They were never supposed to be the same player.

Even the NHL Net announcers made it a point to mention that Bedard will not get the hotdog plays he got in Jr and he'd have to figure out how to score in the NHL.

The difference is Bedard comes at the game cerebral, where Laff and Kakko bullied smaller kids in their respective leagues or International play.

They both have their skills but they need to level up with their bodies against men and figure out the timing involved. For players like them it's a bit more of a curve they have to grow into. That, and, it's kind if unfair they were drafted where they were. In better drafts they probably both go somewhere in the top 7.

Your guys must stop comparing Laffy and Bedard, they only have the 1st overall pick that is the same. Rick Nash is not Sidney Crosby, Taylor Hall is not Connor McDavid. If Bedard and Laffy was in the same draft, 100% Bedard will go 1st overall. So please we must stop this crap of keep comparing Bedard to Laffy.

And I keep hearing Laffy is good in junior due to size like if he was Eric Lindros in junior or something.

Who is comparing Laffy to Bedard? The two are not even in the same league (well, they are, just maybe not for long).

What is being compared is the result of drafting 1st overall.

Chicago, New Jersey each got fine results.

We got Laf.

Laf having his pre-day meal and he's f***ing ready to go!!

(stop trying to look inside his brown bag you stalkers!)

Yes- if only half of this board understood that exact point.
I will not comment on what half the board knows but we have a great example in Bread. Bread had an excellent season with Strome as his center and Fast as his RW. Both were solid linemates but neither one was ever in danger of ever making any NHL allstar teams.

He's the third leading goal scorer on this team, off of the powerplay, in the three years since he came here straight from Juniors, but he has no ability...
Saying he has no ability is just as delusional as saying he's a superstar. It's crazy how people's disdain for a player can just blot out reality.
It's beyond...and its like the season is already over for him and it hasn't started.

You want - Bedard

You’d settle for - Beniers

You get - Laf

(sorry if this upsets folks, copied from another board and made me giggle)

I hope Laf had lots of popcorn to eat because Bedard played almost 22 mins in his debut last night. He led all Hawks forwards and only trailed Jones at 25 mins.
Laf isn't a talent on a level of Bedard, or Hughes, or over 50% of the league, so it wouldn't have really mattered. The question would be though is that if we would have been able to draft Bedard, would he be commanding 22 mins on the 2020 team? Probably.
