Zib does next to nothing to disguise the pass or really make any of the Avs think twice about anything. He glides in with the puck on his backhand, gets below the dots still with the puck on his backhand, and makes a pass on his backhand. There's zero deception. With his slapper, he has to hold his stick at a 90 degree angle for at least 15-20 seconds to indicate that he is powering up in order to take a shot. He has to hang out with Fox a little more.

Back when I was younger this was the equivalent of holding down "C"

Starting to think its best Drury not wait around too long and extend Laf to a big 7-8y deal before his luck normalizes and the pts start matching his on ice value. He def seems to have that “it” factor that could make him a star in this league, and there’s likely a small window where you can get him to sign a Cozens or Boldy like contract before he hits that next level on the stat sheet.

Would 100% like to see him buy low and long-term on both Laf and KK, honestly.

Laf can't be extended until July 1st. Kakko can be extended now, but there's no incentive for him to take a long-term deal at this point, depending on what you mean by buy low. He isn't taking 3 mil for 7 years.

Kotkaniemi signed for 8 years at 4.82 mil after putting up 29 points in 66 games. Last year he outscored Kakko slightly, but he's having a down year as well, with 20 points in 55 games.

We'd need to get into the 4-5 mil range to make it worth Kakko's while to sign for more than 2 years.

I think Kakko for 5mil x 7 is still buying “low”…

In the first he skated like a madman on the backcheck, stole the puck after taking the body and turned it up the other way for a 2 on 1 that HE lead up the ice.

To me, that’s the most impressive stuff about his game, in addition to the finishing tonight.

Oh, and the popeye smirk after that silky finish wasn’t bad either

He’s shown a lot of growth this season, it’s been awesome to see. He’s become a much more dangerous player because of the fact that he is constantly moving his feet. In years past he would get swallowed up because once he got the puck it was easy for opponents to box him in and eliminate along the boards. That’s not the case now.
