If you put Zegras and Lundell on this team, they aren't close to the players they are in Anaheim/Florida. This org simply doesn't know how to handle kids at that age.
This is such a lazy take with no data or supporting evidence. Strome sucked everywhere else but turned into a near point per game player as a NYR.
Kravtsov and Lias were reaches even at the time of the draft. Lias didn't magically turn into a top player in LA and jury is still out on Kravtsov

Strome's gone on record saying that the only thing that changed in NY for him is that he was trusted by the coaches and given the opportunity to play big minutes in a scoring role here.

Elite grinder? Is that the type of player Huberdeau is or is there a better comparable?

The basic STYLE (not level) of a Crosby or Messier, can score but plays physical and goes to the dirty areas. A leader. Between Landeskog and Drai is not a bad way of putting it. I mentioned Hub for the timeline aspect.

Yakupov's rookie season he scored at DOUBLE the pace of Lafreniere's D+2 & Kakko's D+3 seasons COMBINED.

Thanks for this example. Shows that coming in and putting up a bunch of points is not necessarily an indicator of turning into a long term top flight NHLer. Yakupov bombed out of the league in what, 5 or 6 years? I GUARANTEE you Laf has a better career than that former 1OA.

No he hasn’t.
Stutzle has 36 5v5 PTS in 101GP
Laf has 34 5v5 PTS in 104GP

So they are pretty much equally shitty taking away the power play opportunity? Still. Must suck. Hahaha.

To tell you the truth, his little touch plays remind me of Zucc. I miss Zucc. :(

I honestly see him in his own tier. A goal scoring, playmaking grinder. Not many players like him

Zegras grew up a Rangers fan so I’m counting the days till he forces his way here.

No joke in the slightest - they should be earmarking cap space for him in the year after every one of his contract years.

I was hoping we would go all in on Matthews honestly, making cap space for him. His contract is up in 2 seasons I think. But signing Zibby long term probably puts a damper on that. I just thought Rangers might be the only team that could pry him away from Leafs. And he'd probably be worth the money lol.

But Zegras could eventually be a good fit.

AND look how that worked out......

Yakupov's early success says nothing about Laf or Kakko, just Yakupov. There are plenty of players where the reverse is true. Where they did nothing for years and then became superstars.

My concern isn't with Laf or Kaako for that matter. To me it seems the Rangers are inept at developing players. The last Rangers draft pick to score 60 points for the Rangers was Sergei Zubov. That almost seems impossible. You just know that if Laf or Kaako leave they will become stars for another team. Some serious questions need to be asked of the player development department.

Technically it was Brian Leetch but I understand your point. More precisely, I went through all teams in the league to look at drafted forwards.

I misworded my point. The last time the Rangers drafted a player who went on to record 60 points for the team was Zubov. Leetch was drafted in 1986. Zubov was drafted in 1990

I thought he was also on record saying he started taking his career more seriously.

That’s some pathetic shit

It's actually remarkable.
Kovalev (58 pts), Stepan (57) and Miller (56) are our best performing forward draft picks, although you can assume Kreider will pass them all this year.
On a such a long time line you'd think you should almost be able to fluke your way into at least one 60 point season from someone

and buch would have most likely snapped that streak if it wasnt for Covid breaks and shortened seasons.

actually miller was on pace to with the rangers the year he was traded. I believe

Stepan also had a great lockout year where he would have broke it as well judging by pace he was scoring that year.

but it is what it is.
