Seems like being put on the 3rd line is really benefitting him. He is the go to guy on that line, and now he finally has the strength, confidence, and adjustment to NHL speed to take on that responsibility. It will be really interesting to see where he is at the beginning of the next season. If he really puts in the time time this off season, next year could be a really big year for him.

Doesn't hurt that Chytil has also been playing much much better. I'm still hoping his finishing skills return because he's become a complete player otherwise.

Maybe learning from mika and Kreider at rw where he’s not as comfortable actually helped his confidence more now that he’s back at lw

It seemed to me that he is playing with more tempo and looks faster. Think that is a by-product of the game slowing down for him, he has adjusted and now can just play instead of feeling his way. If we can get back KK to where he was playing before the injury, watch out. 3 dangerous lines and a 4th line that will grind and forecheck the hell out of you. Then add in arguably the best goalie in the league and a defense that is growing by leaps and bounds we become a scary team to play.

He is definitely playing better and with more confidence. That is a big relief. He should be playing RW. He is on his backhand too much which makes it tougher for him to shoot and pass. It also makes it easier to lock him up on the boards. I know he is used to LW but once he got used to RW he will love being on his forehand that much more on offense.

I feel like that one shift he had in the second was kind of an epiphany moment. It wasn’t a “Laf had a great shift there” moment, it was a “Laf completely took over the ice and looked like a man against boys” moment.

What I noticed he did was he was slowing the play down when he crossed over the blue line. He was trying to pick corners, but I’ll take that any day over his games earlier this year where he would go weeks without taking a shot.

He’s finding soft spots in the slot to let his shot go and it’s a thing of beauty.

Kid’s got arguably the best wrist shot on the team and if he keeps getting time and space to rip it it’s gonna get ugly for other teams.

His full skill set’s been on display for the past 2 months and it’s really a sight to behold.

I know it doesn't seem like it but I still see Draisaitl type of potential. He also moves around the rink mo' betta too.

He obviously needs to refine his tools but it's all there.

That was one of the more impressive games I've seen from him in his career. I don't even care that he didn't get on the scoresheet.
He never ever would’ve had the confidence to pull off that toe drag dangle to his backhand either. He’s growing, and when his usage improves and his ice time, I believe he will surprise the league. “Oh, he’s not a bust?!”

It helps they were playing a defensively bankrupt team last night, but I loved his shoot first mentality. Just needs to put it on net more.

Yes but 100 pts seasons are really contingent on PP success.

He's already showing strong even-strength play at his 'worst'. I think he has 50-50 potential, doesn't mean he'll reach it. 40-40 obviously is more realistic.

Laffy at age 23+ will be a completely different animal
60 point even strength seasons are really only even a thing for players like McDavid or Crosby. For this season Gaudreau will hit that mark, maybe Matthew’s and Tkachuk. Anything over 60 points is really PP contingent, let alone 100.

His production has been there this month, but last night he looked dangerous on the ice.

I think my favorite moment from him last night was when he got the puck behind his own net, played coy with the forechecker and turned it up a notch and skated freely into the neutral zone, in fact was out pacing him.

He was rotating high in the zone last night, it's where there is a space on the ice. Forced that one turnover and turned around and ripped a shot that just went wide too. Also made a nice 1v1 move to the middle on a rush and got a nice backhander off.

He's very very close to unlocking a few things. If that happens before the playoffs, its even better.

Not really.

There's going to be 10-15 players that hit it this year.

Panarin had 71 even-strength pts in 69 games in 2019
